NIT auto bids

The less auto bids there are for the NIT, the better the chances are for LSU. These are the teams that have an auto NIT bid, obviously some of these are going to be in the NCAA tournament. I'll try to keep this list updated with how they are doing in their respective conference tournaments and if they won it, keeping them out of the NIT. I'll bold teams that are already in the NCAA and italicize/underline teams that have lost and are therefore in the NIT tournament barring NCAA selection.

Wait, this is a list of teams NOT going to the NIT?
That might be useful if it wasn't so useless

I thought they would be an NCAA tourney team this year.

no not really. if these teams dont win their conference tourney then they are 100% in the NIT because of auto bids. so yes its very useful.

Montana is the big sky regular season champ..2nd place weber st looks like they have a case for NIT as well.

No they're not. They are guaranteed a spot but that does not mean they will take it. Auto bids only exist in the NCAA. Teams can still turn down a spot in the NIT

jesus dont get so technical. no one is turning down an NIT bid.

There are at least a dozen teams on there that will be in the NCAA tournament, regardless of what happens in their confernce tournaments ... so they are 100% NOT in the NIT.

you are not understanding the point of the list. obviously if kansas loses in the tourney they're still in the ncaa tourney. i didnt think something like that had to be said but apparently it does.

Arkansas did a few years back. And I am not getting technical, I was just arguing that Auto Bids don't exist in the NIT if teams can turn the invites down. It is more of a schools choice than Auto bid.

I would have thought people could grasp the concept of wanting one bid league champions to win their tournament.

right. thats all the list was about and its a very good tool to have them all listed in one spot. but i guess not.

It's interesting that LSU fans should be pulling for Southern and LaTech to get into the NCAA so that we can be assured of an NIT bid.

Davidson advanced to the SoCon title game.

So why include them in a list of teams that could "prevent" LSU from making the NIT? It's not like Kansas would turn down an NCAA bid to take their "guaranteed" NIT bid.
