Frustrating morning in the turkey woods..

Youth weekend down here in central Fl, so I was taking my little cousin out to this orange grove we have permission to hunt.
Went out yesterday morning without scouting it and had some birds gobbling before day break but once they flew down they shut up.. Didn't really call too much just to feel it out for this mornings hunt but they never came in I could hear a hen taking them the other direction....

Anyways I decided to change it up this morning and call pretty aggressive to try to lure the hen in and they were sounding off at me but once again they shut off at flydown.. Kept up with the calling and around 8:45 my cousin was fed up with it and wanted to go...

We walked back to the truck and left our gear under the tree and after our 15 minute walk back I drove up to pick up our gear and there were 7 gobblers 20 yards from where we were sitting..

No pics or kill just had to vent
One of them had a ROPE too.


My brother also took a kid out to our property on the other side of town and he missed one.. Not a good day. Hopefully next weekend I'll have something to hoist.
