You'll be hard pressed to find something more stoned than this.

I simply love that track. Thanks for posting!

A classic 80/90 rock inspired desert rock band and to start they also have this heavy blues driven style, that at times hints at a Gary Moore like vibe. It’s very accessible, and very light. It might not be lyrically content wise, but the up tempo rhythm and the absence of pentatonic ladders make it a very straight forward and initially a not as heavy effort you would expect to see here. Hints of ZZ-top can be observed through the whiskey loaded air of the tracks.

I'm going to drop a CSB in here.

Back in about 2003 when I was in high school I saw Suplecs, Nebula, Mastodon, and Clutch at a tiny tiny place called 516 soundstage in downtown Shreveport.

I had never heard of mastodon and was actually kind of bummed when I found out that they were going to have a longer set than nebula, but they blew my fricking mind. March of the fire ants was amazing. They were just getting started out then, and Brent Hinds got on the microphone at the end of their set and asked for anybody that had any drugs they wanted to share to come and find him. It was the best show ever been to.

I've been really into Mastodon ever since although I didn't really dig the hunter. It kind of just sounded like a bunch of rough demos and unfinished ideas to me.

Mastodon - March of the Fire Ants

Suplecs - white devil

Clutch - Escape from the prison planet

Nebula - To the Center

Some cool history on Stoner and Doom Metal

quote:

Pentagram

When listening to some of Pentagram's work you will clearly hear the influence they have had on bands like Graveyard, Kadavar and how in a way they were supposed to be Americas answer to Black Sabbath back then. Pentagram is considered one of the pioneers of Heavy Metal and even more important, Doom Metal. There is this great documentary (Last days here) out there you can find it “in full” on you tube. It’s an intriguing documentary about a guy who discovers the band (in shape of the troubled singer) right at the tipping point of self-destruction. And he is set on getting the singer Bobby Liebling back on his feet again and ultimately back on stage. The band was formed in 1971 with singles and recordings dating back to 1972. After the documentary the band had gained such momentum that they toured the states and Europe, starting at Roadburn 2011 and later released their 7th record in almost 30 years. Plow through their wiki and check the different era’s the band underwent through a plethora of member changes. There has been an announcement of the 8th studio album and it should be released this year. And maybe you will be able to hear some of these now tracks at their concert in Rotterdam at Baroeg on the july te 14th. We will be there too, so come shake our hands!

I couldn't believe the singer from Pentagram let himself be filmed smoking so much rock.
