Great $1K budget build. That is a pretty good system at a great price.

This is what I would change.

CPU: AMD FX-8320
GPU: Just another brand over PowerCooler
SSD: Think about it, at less for a boot drive. 64GB min.

Normally I would agree about power cooler but that myst Tahiti edition has great reviews and they are the only ones that made it as far as I know. I wish I would have grabbed it.

Buy these two before the go out of stock or no longer on sale. GREAT bases for a build

The gpu would be closest to the 660ti trading blows with different games and settings. It should outperform the regular 7870 and even close to the 7950, it bridges that gap at a good price.

Coyote recommends the 8320 so I would trust it. See what the microcenter price is but for that newegg price, you can prob get an i5 3570k from microcenter. They may even have a bundle with a mobo. They have had some sick deals.

is there a noticable difference between 4100, 6100, 8320? How do they compare performance wisw to the i5 3750?
Thanks

For gaming, 3570k is where it's at. Do you plan to overclock at all?

Ah didn't even notice your link!

If you don't plan on overclocking, grab one of the AMD chips. they overclock too, but there's no point in getting the 3570k if you're not OCing since the 83xx series is about equal to the 3570k but cheaper

There are also some other i5 chips that perform very well for non overclocking that will be a bit cheaper.

I don't know much about amd. I would see what microcenter has the i5 listed at first. If you get that then that changes things.

If you plan on overclocking get the 3570k, if not the 3470 will do well

Eta: they also had been bundling mobos with the i5 so check and see what they offer there.

Then you have solid options for good prices. A 3770k at MicroCenter is $229.
