I think mine took a couple of weeks or a month. Can't remember because that was 15 years ago.

I wish they still made those LA Lifetime License stickers. They put Yeti and Vineyard Vines stickers to shame

U will get a receipt immediately which will suffice as a license for a couple weeks until the original comes in.

Don't forget that after July 01 2013 you can add your Lifetime
Hunting, fishing permits to your drivers' licenses.

quote:

BATON ROUGE -- Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed into law a bill to allow those who frequent the outdoors to show they have the necessary permits for hunting and fishing on their drivers' licenses. Senate Bill 224 by Sen. Neil Riser, R-Columbia, will give drivers who hunt, fish and boat a chance to carry fewer documents. The law, which goes into effect Aug. 1, directs the state Office of Motor Vehicles, starting July 1, 2013, to allow drivers to have special designations -- known as "endorsements" -- on their licenses indicating they have "lifetime hunting or fishing licenses," a certificate of completion of firearms and hunter education courses or a certificate of completion of boating safety classes. Riser said he worked with the motor vehicles office to give officials there more than a year to issue the licenses with the special designations on them. The licenses with the "endorsements" will be optional, Riser said. He said that the license with the codes on them will be recognized as having the licenses or certificates, so carrying them around separately will not be needed. Riser said during the session that the cost of the driver's license would not increase but the individual will still have to pay the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries the fees to obtain the hunting, fishing or boating permits or licenses.By Ed Anderson, The Times-Picayune
