Sweet. Can't wait to watch the Saints curb stomp the 'Coons in the new digs.

Yes and no. Construction started (November 1989) before Atlanta won the bid (September 1990). It was part of the bid proposal though.

From the Georgia Dome wiki:

quote:

From its completion until the December 31, 1999 opening of the 20-acre (8.1 ha) Millennium Dome in London, it was the largest hooked domed structure of any type in the world, but still remains the largest indoor sporting facility in the United States.

What the hell? Largest indoor sporting facility in the US? Superdome isn't bigger?

The Falcons attendance is fine.

For a playoff/good team, their attendance is terrible. They are definitely in the bottom half of the league. I've been there for a prime time game vs the Saints, and it was filled with Saints fans. They were also playing to lock up the #1 seed and NFC South in this game (2010).

I don't recall the 'Aints attendance being all that great before your lonely little Super Bowl season.

LOL LINK

They sold out the 06 season, before a game was played. No one knew if they would be a good team. The season before that they were 3-13, and playing every game including home games on the road because of Katrina, but it still sold out for the following year. Even when the Saints had shitty teams, and we've had plenty, people still went to games.

Not quite

Atlanta: 11th (98.4%)

I'll give you NOLA ranked at 7th.

And that's as the top team in the NFC, while the Saints were undergoing the bounty gate season.

They 2011 season they were 15th, while being a playoff team.

2010 they were also 15th, and were the top seed for the NFC

What's your point? That the Falcons are "only" consistently filling 95% of the seats in the Dome? (98.4% in 2012?)

I'm not arguing against the fact that the Saints have had a better attendance record for the past 7 seasons.

Using your logic and numbers, the Saints were the Super Bowl Champs in 2009 but "only" could fill 96.1% of the Superdome, or 2006 making it to the NFCCG and "only" filling 94.3% of the seats. It's semantics, and both teams have been fairly consistent in attendance for most of the past decade.

I really wish the saints had a legit rival to keep them in check. By far the worst fans and I have spent my share of time in Philly.

You say that because you're here. They aren't a drop in the bucket compared to Cowboys, Steelers, Pats, Eagles fans.
