Mostly defense isn't measured in the NBA. However, let's dig:
1) Wade's career usage %: 32.2
Pippen's career usage %: 22.5
Wade's lowest usage year (rookie) : 25.0
Scottie topped 25% usage twice : 93-94, 94-95 (aka the 1.5 years Jordan retired) and maxed out at only 27.1. Wade uses the ball more.
Dwayne Wade has two seasons under 30% usage rating this year(29.7) and his rookie year
PER rewards offensive players
2) Wade's highest number of Defensive Win Shares:4.7
Pippen: 6.7
Scottie Pippen topped 5.0 Defensive Win Shares 6 times in his career. The only two perimiter player with more defenisve win shares are Jason Kidd and Hondo (and Dr.J taking in his ABA career)
at age 31 so far Wade has a total(offense[5.4]+ defense[2.4]) equal to 7.8 with a WS/48m% of .197 through 55 games.
at age 31 Scottie Pippen played 82 games had at total Wins Shares of 13(O[7.8] D[5.2])with a WS/48m at .203.
Pippen is the (one of the)best wing defender of all time and Wade's defense isn't what you think it is.
Pippen > Wade.

Wade has had a great run during this streak, but the only thing that's outlandish is the idea that Wade is still the player that he was 5 years ago.
He's had a great month because his body is good right now, he can't do that for 82(+) anymore.
