The Lady Tigers, winners of six games in a row, have made the front page of the women's basketball page on ESPN. The feature article talks about the teams current winning streak, how the coaches and players were able to turn the season around, and how the other coaches in the SEC are afraid to face us.

Awesome job by our ladies!!!!

Red Hot LSU!!

To the people that follow the women, do they have a shot to make it to NOLA?
I obviously want ALL sports to do well, but being in the Final Four 90 miles from home would just be great. Hell, if they make it, I might try and make it out to some of the games in the Arena

Great coaching this year. The team has gotten better as the season has progressed.

I'd say they need 1 major upset from another team to make it to NOLA, like have someone else take out the 1 or 2 seed for us. On top of that we will need probably 1 major and 1 minor upset of our own. Not out of the question but its gonna be rough just getting to the sweet 16. Right now we are a 7 seed in bracketology.

At least we get the first 2 games at home.
And from there, hopefully the upsets happen

Seeding is the key.........

If we end up being a 4, 5, or 6 seed we wouldn't have to face the 1 or 2 seed within those first two NCAA games. I think if we can win 2 games in the SEC tourney, we have a good shot of getting a six, and maybe a 5 seed. If that happens I fully expect the team to make it to the sweet sixteen, and possibly the elite eight.

Here's a link to the ESPN Bracketology, where they try to predict the seeding and brackets at this point of the season. At this point, they've got us as a 7 seed but we're trending upward.

Wouldn't we want to face the 1 or 2 seed in the first two rounds when it's a home game for us? Will they even allow that?

Yeah they will. I wouldn't want to face the 1 seed beacuse the chances of us beating one of them is very slim no matter where we play.

It's allowed and has actually happened pretty often in the past. But, I'd rather not face one of the eight highest seeds till we got to the sweet sixteen. In other words, I'd rather see us win both of our home games and if we lose, lose on the road. Plus, making it to the sweet sixteen is better than losing in the second round. Not to mention you get another week to play and garner media attention.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I was kind of thinking the same thing as SOS

It is going to be awfully difficult for anyone NOT named UConn, Notre Dame, Baylor, or Stanford to make it to the Final Four. Ending up in Baylor or UConn's bracket is almost a death sentence. Notre Dame and Stanford might be slightly more beatable, but not much.

Women's baskeball is so top-heavy (get it?)! Seriously though, there are VERY rarely any upsets in the final four. It's always the same 8-10 teams that are good and then everyone else....

There's definitely less parity in the women's game than the men's but it does vary from time to time. Tennessee hasn't been in a final four in almost five years and UConn hasn't won the championship since Maya Moore's junior year. So, there's still some parity. We're not quite on the level of the top five programs yet though. But we will be very soon.

Here's the preview of the Lady Tigers first round game against Auburn.....

LSU vs Auburn Rd 1 SEC Tourney

I love this quote from Shanece McKinney....

quote:

That loss to Tennessee sparked something in us,” starting forward Shanece McKinney said. “That game should have been ours. We made a vow that from here on out, it’s on. We’re not losing anymore. Everything that comes our way, we’re smashing it

That's the kind of attitude I'd love to see from most of our teams at LSU!!

Where's that Nikki hater at? If up to him she would have been fired at the beginning of the season with the loss to Hampton. He'd also reduce her salary to $10k per year.

I believe she will be one of the greatest coaching hires ever made at LSU if she stays. I would imagine she will be a recruing marvel once she establishes her program here at LSU. I know if she came to my house and asked me for my daugther to join her team and I got to be up close and personal with her for the next 4 years. Done deal! Mothers will love her as well.

The press will follow her. It's like having a model for a coach. All she has to do is win on a consistent basis and I guarantee the press will follow LSU women's basketball team's every move.

She has to be the most beautiful coach in America right? If not, who is? I would love to see that coach. And I don't think we have to worry about her doing the players. At least, hopefully not.
