Is STP the best "rock band" of us under 40?

They are pretty amazing. And I'm talking rock, not Primus or other bands of virtuosos like Zappa plays Zappa.

I would say the same about RHCP...

But a buddy mentioned Ween, Metallica...I'd throw in Cake.

These are obviously subjective rants...but they kick arse in my head cans.

I always viewed them as an unfortunate fall out of the grunge era... when labels were signing all kinds of crap, hoping to get the next big thing...

It's pretty safe, boring, formulaic rock... marketed to the people who never cared to look into or dig up the good stuff... content with what came on the radio...

I would too but I'm not sure I'd call Wilco rock in the same essence of STP.

But of all the commercially successful rock bands like STP, RHCP, Foo Fighters, Metallica, etc. I'll take STP.
