I received confirmation yesterday that the ENTIRE glassbox engine - in other words the actual simulator - only makes use of a single core. Music and sound effects etc have the ability to make use of additional cores.

No wonder they are hamstrung to such small cities - they got lazy and ported code for glassbox from other titles instead of actually starting from the ground up. Who the hell uses a single core machine these days? Only old fogies or businesses who are too cheap to upgrade from their 8 year old P4. Neither of whom are going to be trying to play SimCity.

This game is nowhere near worth the asking price. Wait until it drops to $25. Or until they release a full DLC expansion and you can bundle the whole thing at a discount.

Glassbox runs entirely on the CPU (sadly, single-threaded at the moment). The GPU is running all the graphics and we tax it pretty heavily, but that also is the part that we can most easily scale based on your hardware spec.

above quote is from a developer of the game

They're catering to the "the Sims" crowd. I may be sticking with cities XL.

Picked up the game, activated it through Origin and it wouldn't let me install or play it. Apparently a lot of people are having this problem because my wait time to speak with an EA rep is 935 minutes and they just put out this release: LINK . So basically everytime Origin has a problem I won't be able to play a game that I payed $60 for, I should've known better.

all the local files are stored on the server, too. not on your hard drive.

so guess what? people have already reported that the server has deleted their cities
