I saw today he is going to be a FA.

What yall think about us pursuing him???
I have heard talk about getting a new safety, he would be pretty good.

(I don't frequent this board, but I looked though the first few pages - saw nothing regarding this)

Too expensive. I'd like to see us go with an aging stopgap at FS (Woodson, Barber, or Reed) and focus on drafting our future starter this year or next.

I'd cut everybody in the secondary and bring in mediocre replacements, to get Goldson. The only net minus would be Greer.

I know it would never happen, but its my Madden move of the day.

There's a lot of really good DB free agents this year. I'll be very disappointed if we don't pick any of them up.

cutting will smith, roman harper, and vilma would really give us a shot at getting jimmy graham a new contract and a decent above average db.

I'm not worried about bushrod, imo he's not SUPERSTAR LOT...above average at best. I'm more worried about us paying him a boatload of money, us signing an expensive free agent db, and then we'd have to franchise tag jimmy next year where we would have less wiggle room and have no money this year to get that out of the way. one season of him getting 1k+ yards and no injuries, you can expect at minimal gronk money.

Suntiger makes obligatory apperance to say that we should sign William Moore because he's cheaper, better in coverage than our current safeties and because we'd be stealing him from a division rival.

He is requesting at least $8 mil a year and frankly if the cap friendly and draft pick extreme friendly super bowl caliber defense of the niners dont think he is worth it, I say get a veteran looking for a contender, or draft and build for the future.

Would enjoy this. Atlantas safety plays last year was nuts

Probably true, except the Saints have none.

I know a lot of people are down on Malcolm Jenkins and Roman Harper, but I feel that Harper will thrive in a 3-4 especially under a fired up coach like Rob Ryan, and Jenkins showed improvement last year. I know he is a bad tackler but he seems to be around the ball most of the time, just maybe a little late sometimes.

How does this qualify a guy for retaining his job? On most defenses he would have been benched for being so terrible.

I will say that even though his routine play is really nothing special, every now and then he comes up with some kind of great hustle play. I'll give him credit for that.

They were the #87 and 88 rated safeties out of 88

Its not like it's unabashed criticism

Honestly, I don't think Goldson brings to this D what his salary would have to be. This D isn't going to be a "one big time guy" kinda fix. Now, if they trade for Revis, sign Goldson and draft a high impact rusher...yeah. But, none of this is going to happen. I think we are stuck with PRob and #87 and #88 safeties.
