Add DT Brodrick Bunkley to the list of #Saints who have restructured deals to create cap space, per league source. Don't know the exact amount of savings yet, but he was scheduled to earn a salary of $3.7 million this year, with four years left on his deal. So the Saints could save a little more than $2 million against this year's cap if they drop his salary all the way to the league minimum.

My man!

There's at least one option for a NT. Have to think they believe he'll work out and we'll go pass rushing LB in the first round now.

If they did get him down that far, I'm pretty this move will put us right about at even with the cap, no? If not only around 500k off.

And they still haven't touched Smith, Vilma, or Harper

Good! Now we need to work on 3 more and we can make a good splash in free agency. I think we get a NT in FA. dont think they want to spend a early round pick on a 2 down lineman. Need the pick to be a player who plays all three downs. IMHO

Why cut? surely we can get a 7th rd pick for the three of them. Or maybe a dozen crawfish.

i know what id prefer.

And I don't think they will. I'm not an expert on the process of restructuring, but it seems like teams restructure players that they plan on keeping around for a few more years (by pushing salaries into future years). If people on here's sources are correct, (and every fan's common sense), then the Saints are not planning on keeping Harper around for the long term if at all possible.

I think they're waiting on Harper to see what they can get in FA or the draft. If they need the money in FA for his replacement or another position, they'll cut him. If not, they'll go into the draft with him and, if they have a SS they like available, draft him and then cut Harper. If not, they can roll with him for one more season.
