Wasn't he one of those later addition walk ons?
Yes, PM and LM both told him to come to campus early and work with the teams. Laird worked out with the football team and then once PM saw how he did in the high school all star game (MVP) and the Marrucci tournament (Tourney MVP), he decided that he better get him on scholarship. He did and the rest is history.
PM is lucky he had some kids go to the draft.
Laird went to the last PM baseball camp of the year last year and they told him to go the RR (Juco) route. Well they called him the next week and said, nah you better come to BTR.....

Is Mark ACTUALLY on scholarship? I know both coaches wanted him to come try to walk-on to the team but from my understanding Laird wasn't guaranteed a spot on the team from PM just a spot to tryout to walk-on but then after the tournaments were he went off he officially offered him a spot, but not actually a scholarship. Is this correct or no? Not trying to argue just figure out what actually went down lol

From my understanding, he is on scholarship. I know he is living in the 5 where all the athletes stay. My nephew and him graduated and played ball together since they were in flag I. He's at LSU now too, so I go by what he tells me. They talk daily and my nephew hangs out with a lot of the athletes too.
I may be wrong but, I think I may actually be right this time..... HA HA!

Lol alright

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there a Robertson that is verbally committed to next year's class that is related to the Duck Dynasty clan in some way?
Maybe Jeriome, or something close to that?
Not from OCS. The only Robertson that plays football is Reed. Reed and Cole play baseball, however I do not think Reed is going to play for LSU and Cole is a freshman.

FarmTiger...Sorry bout that, just guessed all the kids went to OCS after seeing the refrigerator decals at Phil's/Ms. Kay's place.

It would be kick arse to see Cole or Reed Robertson playing baseball for LSU with the beards though!

We've always know NE Louisiana puts out the athletes.

Does Laird become the Hester of Baseball?
Laird grew up on the mean streets of the north side of Monroe....15th most dangerous city in America. You have to be hard core to survive OCS.....dude had to play baseball to get off the streets...and I'm sure was shot at repeatedly by the thugs driving down Hwy 165....

Yeah, can you imagine Laird walking thru the mean streets of Little Cuba and River Oaks just to get to school.

Just having fun Mr. Laird. I hope you have an MVP season & hopefully enjoy your first trip to Omaha.
