yeah lamar is a solid program. seemed like he was sorta looking down on them with his "freaking lamar".

I'm sure we could all nit pick every game another team has played to make it seem like they aren't really that good.

State beat portland 2-1
twice they barely beat a really bad purdue team
beat st joes twice yesterday in a doubleheader 3-2 and 2-0.
eta: and beat grambling 2-0. 2 runs against swac pitching is terrible.

FWIW...we are #1 in both the boydsworld and warrennolan RPI rankings.

WarrenNolan.com
BoydsWorld.com

They also both have us as a top 5 strength of schedule to date.

Pretty impressive. Poll rankings don't mean shite

They are 11-2 so far. Lost to us and Washington back to back then won the next 3 from Washington.

So I guess it is a good thing baseball is a 9 inning game. This might be one of the dumber posts I have ever read on here. Are we supposed to score 2 runs every single inning and win every game by 10 runs. That doesn't happen.

quote:

game 9 Brown: manage 4 runs in their first game of the season

So, now we aren't going to make it to Omaha because Brown scored 4 runs against us?

Sometimes I wonder if some of the people that post in baseball threads even watch baseball.

That lefty from Nichols pitched a great game; very crafty in his delivery. His pitching in those first innings was equal to some of the best sec piching our players will encounter. Is he a Mayer or a Holder? no. Doesn't mean he didn't pitch like them for that game Sunday.

Didnt we lose to Nichols once last year? I'd say it's an improvement

Right.

I guess he was complaining about our offense with that comment and not our pitching. I misread it. Regardless, it is still a very ignorant comment overall.

why do people keep talking about Omaha, but i sure am not discussing post-season baseball right now

i dont feel the need to say this often, but i do watch the games and i do know a decent bit about the game

as i said before, sorry if my opinion is offensive to others. i hope we keep up our success in conference play. i just know that the pitching we will face is going to be a whole lot better than we are facing now. we will need have a lot more timely hitting for our current success to continue into SEC play. we will not be as fortunate to beat up on mediocre pitching and worse bullpens in the next few weeks.

We don't hit well when it's cold...this isn't something that is new. Last year when we lost 2/3 to Appy St, it was cold. Thankfully baseball is played during warm periods of the year. Oh and we are hitting above .300 as a team.

Ya know, we could be like Arkansas sitting at 7-5 having just lost 4 games in a row including a game to Pacific.

you can score 8 runs every game but if you give up 9 runs you still lose. It's all about pitching and in the end LSU will hit over .310 as a team and score over 5 runs a game. I can live with that if our team era is under 2.50. I loved that 2-0 game sunday. It was perfect!

Hey brah, don't talk bad about our hitting. I'm sure we're number 1 in the conference in some obscure category.

We are currently number 2 in the conference with a .323 team batting average. Leader is .324. League average is .289.

We are tied for second in homeruns with 7.

We are fifth in runs scored with 75.

We are second in the SEC in slugging % at .454. League average is .392.

We have the lowest amount of strikeouts in the SEC with 40. The next closest is 52.

We are fourth in OBP at .418.

But yeah, those are all pretty obscure offensive statisical categories.
