thats an entirely different argument and has nothing to do with whether or not the houston classic was "loaded".

You could even play off the fans emotions an lump a team like stony brook in here. People would go after what happened last year, even if stony brook is shitty

You could pull 3 teams from three different areas of the country and end up with a pretty good tourney.

All of those games were sell outs with SRO tickets sold for each game

The Brown vs Nicholls games were sellouts? Must have been a lot of folks dressed at bleachers.

Nah, it would be better if it were more regional. That way at least some opposing fans might make the trip.

As long as the tickets are paid for, who cares.

Their records aren't sparkling, but they are also talent laden ball clubs. Rice has one of the best pitchers in the nation. UNC's Emmanuel went toe to toe with Kubitza. Cal is a legit Regional contender with top 10 round draft talent in it's roster, same goes for A&M.

Rice took two of three from Stanford, and beat Appel, swept Hawaii on the road as well. Yea... not too impressive.

The Aggies dropped a series to Pepperdine.. no shame in that.

Cal swept Michigan, dropped a series to UCI and lost to Stanford.

I guess I should rephrase. Maybe not loaded, to many here it seems loaded means the top 4 teams and thats it.

But it was a strong field. Much better than anyone we've seen so far.

There is a difference in ticket sales sellouts and butts in seats sell outs. While its all the same to the Athletics Dept. The atmosphere in the Stadium is a totally different thing.

I don't see why we can't convince 2 or 3 good northern teams to come down and get an early season series in against some good competition. Teams like ND, St. John's, whatever Big 10 team looks good, one of the NW PAC-10 teams or a Missouri Valley Conference contender.

Oh, and free games don't count as sellouts. LSU's games were sellouts.

While that's a cute sarcastic post, the topic was in reference to a tournament. I don't think I've seen Maryland scheduled in any tournaments this year.

Also, we're talking about good northern teams, not a school that hasn't made the NCAA tournament in your lifetime.

If you're going to knock the scheduling when it deserves it, you also have to give it credit when it deserves it. Maryland was coming off their best year in school history, is far enough from us that our schedules won't overlap very much, and plays in a good baseball league.

I liked bringing Maryland in for a series.

The seating capacity of Alex Box is 10,150.

Tickets sold vs. Nicholls was 11,214. The Saturday Brown game had 10,269 tickets sold. The Friday night game was just short of capacity with 10,085 tickets sold.

So for the weekend the capacity was 30,450 and the number of tickets sold were 31,568. So you don't have to worry about the bond debt not being repaid from this past weekend's schedule.

You can verify all these numbers by going to LSUSports.net. That's where I got them.

i'd much rather bring in small schools from texas or california then up north. the northern schools all suck and interest me none. even teams like st johns.
