I think it' the other teams we're talking about. Maryland who is 9-0 outside of playing us. Lamar is 11-1 " ". ULL is 11-1 " ". SLU is 8-1 " ".

This is what is really helping us out. Maryland is going to continue to be pretty good, but not great. Lamar, SLU, and the other Southland teams we play will sort of cancel each other out as the season goes on.

I just wish we didn't have RPI anchors on the schedule like Ivy league teams, and any SWAC team not named Southern.

I expect a good RPI/SOS dip this week after playing Stephen F. Austin, Sacred Heart and Washington 3x. Interestingly enough, Lamar beat Washington 3/4 last weekend.

The info within your post speaks for itself but I can't make shite out of the title. Thanks for the info though.

Didn't see that. Sacred Heart is on a Louisiana swing this week and just got swept by ULL. A lot interconnectivity on the schedule this year. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Maryland, BYU, and Washington have the potential to help us out, being so far away from here and not playing a lot of the same teams we are. They just have to win.

So, you want the team to start out highly ranked then falter and become bottom ranked to close the season, rather than staying highly ranked all season?

Falter? Did I say that? Where are you getting this?

I said I would rather be top ranked than not top ranked. That is all I said.

I quoted where you said that. Just go back and read your post. You think you're saying one thing, but you are actually saying a very different thing.

I really don't see what you mean. I would rather be top ranked all season means I would rather be ranked on top. When I say rather than bottom ranked, I mean I would rather not be ranked at the bottom all season.

Not sure how you are reading this but now you are just being nit picky with my words

Boyd released the first RPI of the season this morning. LSU also #1 there by a rather large margin.

2 0.678 8 2 South Carolina
3 0.672 12 0 Oregon State
4 0.665 8 2 Southeastern Louisiana

It's an extremely inflated RPI and SOS that will begin heading south

Obviously its inflated, but as long as we keep winning, we stay near the top, especially with the schedule jump after this week

This early in the year, RPI changes quickly and is somewhat meaningless. Hell Tulane was over 100 a week ago and is 28 after a 3-2 week.

Maryland is 9-0 since being swept by LSU.

Lamar is 11-1 against teams not named LSU.

BYU is 6-3 against teams not named LSU.

SLU is 8-1 against teams not named LSU including 2 wins over BYU.

That RPI factor is a joke. UNC swept a loaded field at the Astros classic this weekend.

Just to play Devil's Advocate.

UMd's other wins are versus Oakland (4) Princeton (3) and JMU.

Lamar's wins are a bit more impressive with a sweep of next weekend's opponent Washington, as well as sweeps of Columbia and Northern Kentucky (need to verify if NKU is even D1)

BYU has beatten Northern Colorado, Northern Illinois LSU, Seattle twice and Creighton twice. They've lost games to Northern Colorado, Texas Tech, SLU (2) LSU and Creighton

South Eastern has sweeps over Tenn.-Martin and Texas Southern, one over BYU and dropped games to LSU and Tulane.

These records are nice, but the level of competition is shite, which is entirely appropriate for this early in the season.

That said, can't wait for SEC play, love this teams pitching!

ETA - NKU is in fact a reclassifying D1 school, provisional member of the Atlantic Sun conference. Also the alma matter of George Clooney. Thanks Wikipedia!
