Terry Looney was the greenie QB that beat LSU in 1973. Foley must have been hurt as he was the team leader in stats. But Looney was the QB for TU that night.

That was the year the Tigers lost to Tulane for the first time in 25 years. That year was the beginning of the end for Charlie Mac
Steve Foley (Greenie QB from Jesuit) beat us every way imaginable. Went on to play Strong Safety for Denver for an eternity.
LSU several turn overs and huge penalties.....still the most painful loss in my LSU fandom

Mike Williams (first black player)

Yes Hinton was first but Mike Williams was second. I made $5 off this game as I bet on Penn State. Hey freshmen year.
I used to laugh at the Go team and white team. They all were white.

I have some license plates that say "LSU - 1974 Orange Bowl Champs." Some are still in the plastic wrap.

That Bama game was my first ever in TS. I remember everyone throwing Oranges at Bear Bryant as he leaned on the Goal Post in the South end zone and being amazed that not a single one hit him.
Got in trouble for throwing Oranges at my Tulane neighbor's house after the game that night.
Went to the Airport in Kenner to see the Tigers off to Miami and got some pictures taken with Norm Hodgins, Warren Capone and Tyler LaFauci. Wanted one with my hero, Brad Davis, but couldn't find him. He had 75 yds rushing to Cappeletti's 50 in this game, btw.
My HS Coach was Miley's position Coach at EJ so I heard some great stories of his HS exploits. Fortunate Coach to have had Butch Duhe at HC, Miley at EJ and Tommy Wilcox at Bonnabel, Id say!!!

Nice link-enjoyed some memories from my HS days following the Tigers. Miley died not far from my house, remember it like it was yesterday. So tragic. Watching that film surely reminds one how the player demographics have changed in one lifetime. Wow.

When Miley left for pro baseball, we had to turn to the late Carl Otis Trimble. He was brilliant at times, but also struggled many times.
True, but LSU ran a triple option, some times the QB option pitched to the fullback who pitched to the tailback, which lead to
something like 43 fumbles in the first 10 games.

I believe Trimble drowned trying to save a kid. Several athletes from LSU died young: Miley, Trimble, Prather, Duhe, Redden, Pontiff, Maravich, and Andolsek. These are the ones I remember off thr top of my head. I wonder if this is consistent with other colleges

it is odd. i think Duhe was supposed to come after Hillman and Buddy Lee? before Bert Jones? did Duhe ever make it to the campus? i'm fairly sure he didn't play at LSU but did he ever get to school?

Butch Duhe died as a Freshman. There's a Playground named after him in Kenner. His parents are wonderful people.

That’s a shame. He was a little older than me but I had heard he also was a special talent.
