Also, next time I think one interesting twist would be a 25 Vote ballot and a 5 vote negative ballot which strikes points from movies. Not enough to make a BIG difference. But enough to structure your opinion more.

Anyways, could be interesting.

I think that is a great idea. Could get rid of all the outlier weirdo votes. There are a few of those in about half of the ballots (including my own possibly). That would also cut down on some of the wacky movies getting in there in the first place.

Noo, I'll probably leave it open into the next week. I am putting the vote warning on it today.

No more changes to already posted ballots, that way I can start counting and handing out writing assignments.

hope to have my ballot finished by friday, cranking out my list as we speak. My life has slowed down so I should get it done soon.

My list is by no means finalized.

The 5 votes against movies is a pretty good idea. 40 is daunting, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, people need to freaking get on it. I'm sure there are already 200 movies though.

Voted. I think I spent more time on what would be #40 than I did on anything else

I've zoomed in on to where those arrows are pointing and maybe I'm an idiot but I see nothing worthy. Or even worthy. I was hoping for , which is the greatest honor that can be bestowed on anything.

I can write a few write-ups if you need another writer. I'm decent with the English language and humor.

Also, out of curiosity, does the order that we list the movies matter? Not too sure how the voting works.

Sorry. Had to Joxy myself to find this.

So am I to assume that your list is 1-40 as is? I do want you to put the effort into ranking them, that's how we determine the whole selection.

They're in order, more or less. The top 10 are pretty accurate, as of today. I might change them, but count when you will. Star Wars is #1 on my list, just to piss people off but also because it routinely makes my Top 5 list. I'm Gonna Git You Sucka will be added to your tabulation matrix, however, just so you'll always know that I am, in fact, going to get you, sucka.

Also, are you sure you want to participate in this "gay" little enterprise at all?

That was a joke. I just don't want to be added because I might not get around to crafting my long-pondered manifesto, "DECKARD IS NOT A frickING REPLICANT!"

Yes, I know both the author and director disagree, but my word is final.

Alright, so, I made my list. I hate making lists.

Its so hard to pick something, plus I know that I'll remember something I should have put on there later.

Oh well.

Again, I can write a review/summary if any writers are still needed. Sci/fi and anime (I know a few people voted for Spirited Away) are the two genres I favor.

Just let me know.

We seem to have two very similar lists. Wished you had Mononoke on there since I'm not sure if its going to make the list now, but we both put Pan's Labyrinth at #2.

Mononoke
I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite of Miyazaki's work. I did forget about it when I made my list though. I may add it.

**Replaced Redline (amazing hand drawn racing anime) with it, since I highly doubt anyone will vote for Redline besides me.

Howl's Moving Castle was my favorite. Definitely his best work, IMO.

I do like Howl's Moving Castle, I do, but I'd rate it in the bottom half of Miyazaki's work. He has a body of work I have an incredible amount of respect for and love basically all his movies (Ponyo aside, even though it was gorgeous). He's a very gifted director who can perfectly balance story, characters, tones, and themes, to where nothing ever comes across as preachy from him. In the hands of almost any other director, you'd start rolling your eyes at his anti-war and environmental themes often present in his films.

Howl just didn't speak to me as much, and there is a plot point that pissed me off. I just don't understand why they take the witch along. I know Miyazaki often presents characters early on as being wholly despicable and later in the film delves down into their psyche and shows that they're all not that bad. But this woman just really didn't deserve that chance since the only thing she could do was frick things up for our heroes, which she does in the end. They should have certainly left her behind, especially since she probably does the most screwed up thing of all of the antagonists Miyazaki has presented us. Granted its still a solid 3.5 out of 4 star film, but I don't look at it as a masterpiece in the same way Mononoke and Spirited Away are.

Yea, I see your point, I just felt that the overall story and character development was amazing. They should've left the witch, I agree, but I don't think that would have fit Sophie's character.

To each their own though.

In the end, as far as Miyazaki's work is concerned, to say that you favor one of his work's over his others in no way diminishes the other movies. They are all great movies.

I have Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind coming in on Friday. I read that it looks great on blu-ray. I haven't seen it yet, so I'm looking forward to it.

Given how few people voted I would think it would make the list in some way, particularly with both of us putting it in the top 15 (same for spirited away really).

And with Scruffy adding it it should definitely show up I guess.
