What's the deal with cutting Turner? Dirty Birds looking to upgrade at RB?

I think by cutting Turner the Falcons automatically upgrade. Turner went down when a LB whispered in his ear last year. Any other RB with a pulse could have probably performed better.

From my point of view in front of my TV and in the stands, their offense was more efficient and dynamic with Turner on the sidelines.

I've been saying that for three seasons now.

I think Rodgers will be a nice back and with the proper compliment could be very solid.

Not a big fan of ATL so I didn't catch too many of the games. I just knew that Turner had been with them for awhile and figured either his performance was going down hill or they are looking to free up some cap to get some young guys in.

He also seemed to take himself out of the game after every one of those hits too. He injured himself more than he did the other teams WR's in most cases.

Go big or go home?

this is very vague but I do have a friend related to one of the big shots in the front office...he won't tell me shite except "big things coming"...I trust that guy a ton and it made me confident about this move...sorry I have to be so vague...trying to get information out of him since he's just fricking teasing me right now

Yes.

When Snelling was given a chance the last couple of years he looked better than Turner. And Quizz is a better all-around back now.

And he is going home. Obviously Thomas Dimitroff agrees.

Good.....24 passes defensed in 47 games, 4 int's.

Poor tackler. Even those big hits were few and far between. His brain will be mush by age 40 with all those concussions he caused himself.

FIFY.

I wonder how much the bounty pays if you knock them out and yourself out.

Lavar Edwards, Tharold, and Spencer Ware are a lot cheaper

Wow. I would never had guessed Abraham had 10 sacks last season. The games I watched, I didn't think he had much impact.

Hopefully Steven Jackson has enough juice left in him and comes to ATL

I am not quite understanding the "geezers" part.

which are all old ages for Running backs and dlineman. LT is only 33, when did he see his decline? SJ has a ton of miles, but he would probably be a beast for a few years

I think Snelling is the way to go due to cost

Right. Like I said earlier in the thread, the next 2 to 3 years are what the Falcons consider their Super Bowl window. Jackson and Freeney are still producing at a high level, and it is reasonable to assume they will continue to do so for the next 2 or 3 years. Dimitroff is good at evaluation of players and I think he thinks the Falcons can get them and if they don't he can build those positions in the draft.

There is more than Freeney out there as well. So I agree TD thinks he will get one of those guys and Freeney is in that mix. But if he misses, Avril is another name and more are out there.

Fine with these moves. Releasing turner is obvious. These two not as much but it makes sense especially if we area poking to sign some FAs and draft a DE as well

I honestly hope you guys take Freeney, because I don't see him producing at too high of a level. Avril would be the better option. Abraham had a solid season, but I guess his age made the decision for them.

Not at all surprised about Turner, the Falcons offense seems to work better without him. Jaquizz is a talented player, and Jackson with him, although getting up there in age for a RB, would make a solid pair.

Robinson is a solid player, but you can see that they are trying to make some moves.

10 1/2 of the Falcons 29 sacks for the year. So they just cut a little over 1/3 of their yearly sack total.
