I keep seeing around 430-455 at bats. But, are those projections considering that he'll play 1B? Wouldn't that garner him more at bats than when he was the starting catcher during 2010 and got 453 ab's with the Angels?

Isn't it more likely he'll get 500 ab's while the starting 1st baseman?

I am probably the biggest Napoli homer on this board. He has elite power and a tremendous eye. I think if you can get at least 140 games out of him, then he has a decent chance to be the top catcher this year. His career OPS of over 1.100 at Fenway does not hurt.

As far as I know, the Red Sox plan to play Napoli basically everyday. I think there is a good chance he gets 500 at-bats.

Of course, all this is null and void if he has a bum hip.
