Potential dancing partners for the draft

As all know on ST the Saints are at somewhat of a cross road this off season with the salary cap, age, lack of talent, and depth. Some on the O, but mainly on the D. Been many ideas tossed out there on what to do. If you wondering what those might be just go through the past 10 or 20 back pages of ST.
There are good players on the D, but they just don't fit what we are trying to do. Many just want to just cut them and move on and hope for the best with a few FA's and the draft. These players still have some value on the market, and this is where I think we could get a little help for our many issues that have been discussed repeatedly on here. Coach SP said they wanted to model this franchise after New England, if that is the case then by damn it is time to start acting like it. Moving over priced players with value for draft picks, get what you can get and move on.
Teams draft positions
Teams draft needs
Food for thought-
Will Smith> restructure contract, trade for 3rd and 5th.
Roman Harper> restructure contract, trade for 2nd and 6 or 7.
Jon Vilma> restructure contract, trade for 3rd or 4th or 5th. Value ?
Maybe San Fran would like to move up to 15 for say maybe 2nd and 3rd or 4th.
End result - Cap issues fixed, age gone youth, money to spend and not be in cap issue purgatory for the future. Just a thought if not, just keep on rockin with the should we?, cut his arse, and what are we gonna do threads.

I like where your head is at, but I don't think we'll get that value from any of the players you mentioned. Nobody's giving up a second rounder for Roman Harper. If Loomis can pull that off, they need to tear down the statue in front of St Louis Cathedral and rename it Loomis Square.

These are all over paid players.
Hence they have no trade value.
Your food for thought was as filling as a Donner party breakfast.
Sorry.

I know you are on something and I want it.
15th pick for a late 2nd and late 3rd..even if you replace KC's 2nd rounder with the the late 2nd, I'd still shoot the whole FO

Know it sounds like madden, but you get the idea. The idea is to get something in return for something which is realistic. Now the draft picks may be a little high but you get the idea. Waht better way to fix our cap issues without 0 cap hit for gaurenteed money? Perfect example is NE, trade the player and get something in return no matter how little it maybe.

Hence the restructure before trade to give value. Sweeten the pot before to entice the thought.

Just throwing some different ideas out there other than should we sigh every tom, dick and harry out there or who we should cut so and so cause they are over priced and sucks.

I read and re-read this post thinking I had the flu and just couldn't gasp the underlining thought process that was being conveyed; I then realized that the facts being used for the hypotheticals were just plain science fiction. All of the Saints players mentioned couldn't garner a 7th rounder...in a package deal...with the Saints throwing in some cash.

we'd have to ship them all and a first rounder just to get a 7th

Sounds like an NBA type trade.

Somehow I bet that there would be a "no trade" clause if they restructure/take a pay cut.

When I started this thread I really did not intend to single those three players out. It could have have been any player on the team like PT, Ingram, Colston, Evans, Sproles, or Grubbs. Just grabbed at the three most obivous problems. Just was thowing an idea out there.
