I emailed all memebers of the athletic marketing and just received an email back saying:

quote:

Thank you for your email and support of the LSU Tigers. Please know we have a very detailed marketing plan for all our sports and have plans for season ticket offerings in the near future.

Again, thank you for your support of LSU.

I had made the suggestion that they could offer some kind of season ticket incentive for those who go to the game as an idea of a promo.

The Athletic Dept HATES suggestions. This whole campaign is a lost cause until there is a regime change. Everyone there thinks that they are better and smarter than you. They are essentially state workers, so status quo is what they want to keep

LSU hasn't sold 10,000 tickets for a game this season
LSU is another season away from doing this. This year was good and all but they wont get 10k in there until after a great next year.

I mean they've been close this year right? I think they've hit the 9K sold mark at least a few times (Bama and Florida come to mind)

Hell it was close to a sell out last year and we weren't good, it'll be 10K+ actual if we are good next year.

ETA: UK attendance last year (which LSU does based on tix sold) was 11600.

LSU may have the worst promotions department in the SEC

I've gotta agree with you. Mathieu didn't get a good push for the Heisman, Basketball attendance suffers for the men, while we have Pack the PMAC events for Women's Basketball and Gymnastics...and baseball doesn't need any promotion.

I'm sorry...but getting a half price basketball ticket with proof of your baseball ticket isn't enough. It's time for them to get creative.

This team has fought their arse off and deserves a big crowd for Ole Miss.

That $5 ticket with your baseball stub actually worked pretty well imo. The crowd was pretty good for that game, especially considering the opposition (god Miss State is awful ).

Pack the Pmac used to be a fantastic promotion for the women's team

Used to be....but it died a slow death.

Besides, something like that takes more than a week to plan.

I am with you all...I really would like to see more people at the games. Everybody sees the problem, but nobody has a really good solution. I haven't seen one on here. Every suggestion that has been made can be refuted by logic.

The fact is...you can't have a big blow out for one final regular season game and plan it 8 days in advance.

I don't buy the argument that "people don't know". It is the freakin 2010's...LSUSports.net doesn't have a password, LSU fans know they can find info there. The fact is, all of the games are on TV and that is going to hurt attendance. I have missed a couple of home games that I might have gone to simply because it was too easy to sit home and watch on TV.

I am not trying to be the a-hole here...I TOTALLY agree with what everyone is saying...it just isn't as easy for the marketing people to do as you think.

Come again? If basketball doesn't bring in any money, why does it suck the way they are treated?

You really think basketball does not make money? This little thing called a tv contract the SEC has with the networks makes big money. College basketball, unlike baseball, is a major revenue producer. LSU just hasn't tapped the resource to its greatest advantage. It's a mystery as to why.

You would think the lesson was learned in 2000 when LSU finally brought their football program into the 21st century. Spend money to be a first class program and you will be rewarded.

I know...I'm just saying that doing that once a season isn't enough.

They need to do a Kids 12 and under get in free. That way you'll get alot of 5th grade basketball teams and their parents and coaches to come...and you don't have to worry about losing ticket revenue because they'll eat their weight in concessions.

ETA: Better yet, it's the last game of the season. Just let everyone in free.

Very true, I do think that CJJ is a good promoter himself (hell, from what I've heard, it was his idea to rebrand the Maravich Maniacs, which was a good idea regardless of how shitty the new name is). I think he'll work with promotions next year to really try to generate more excitement for the team. I've also heard rumors of a basketball rebrand as far as uniforms go (as in going to the new nike uniforms, the ones with the design on the back), which I'd love to see as well considering our current uniform set is pretty blah at best imo.

This team deserves to play in front of a great crowd this season. They may not do much postseason wise this season, but they're bringing energy and fun back to the program. Once the program starts rolling they can look back on this season and know they were the cornerstone to the rebirth of a program.

A&M is NOT a major upset. Will we be favored on the road? Unlikely. But A&M isn't a great team. Winnable game imo

Like several SEC teams, including LSU, A&M is a completely different team at home than on the road. Tennessee is playing absolutely lights out right now and they had to go to 4 overtimes to beat them. Anything is possible, but an LSU win in this game would be a major upset, regardless of rankings, standings, etc.
