Will that cover the whole meal? I've never been there. Any suggestions?

It could. For one. If you don't drink.

If you're going with someone, it will ... if you split a meal.

no...ate their with a $100 gift card a few months back. 1 app, 2 filets, 2 sides, bottle of wine...i think i paid like $70 out of pocket with tip.

filets are about 32, sides 6, wine was like $40 that we got.

If you drink water and get no apps or sides you MIGHT be able to make it

Thanks for this thread. It reminded me why I never go to Ruth's Chris. So many better meals to be had for the cost of a dinner there.

Went about a month ago and had forgotten how incredible the steaks are.

Let me clarify. I absolutely agree, the steaks there are great. I've just always had a problem with going out and spending that much on something as simple as steak. Clearly I can't cook a steak as good as Ruth's Chris but I can go buy a really good cut of meat and cook it well enough to enjoy for a fraction of the price it costs to have one at Ruth's Chris.

When I'm going to spend that much money on a meal, I like to get something more creative and inspired by a chef....if that makes sense.

I'm sure some will disagree with this and that's fine. That's why there are different options for different people.

You can do 2 steaks and 2 salads for that.

I agree with all of that. But even if I find the most beautifully marbled prime cuts at Calandros, I still can't come close to replicating what Ruth's does. I'm not going there every time I want a steak...it had been at least two, probably 3 years since I had been.

It's just one of my favorite things.

Last year when I went with a $100 gift card they were offering some prix fixe dinners for $49 and there were some good options. I ended up only coming up with the cost of the tip (brought a friend). Oh, maybe a little more, we might have each had a glass of wine.

I very rarely seek out steak houses or order a steak at a restaurant. Agreed that I'd rather spend that kind of money on something unique or imaginative. That being said I do love me some Ruth's Chris. wedge salad, beef carpaccio, NY strip, bottle of wine.

Just be careful looking at the online menus b/c the BR location is owned privately and the menus are different from the national chain menus.

I've been to Ruth's Chris twice, both with gift cards. I have another in my purse right now. I don't mind going at all, particularly when the bulk of the meal has been gifted to me (actually, to my husband).

You can easily get out with only having to go out of pocket for the tip. The GF and I ate there not long ago and I think with tip it was around $115. Mind you, we only had water, but we did have an app with a salad each and filets.

YOu can get steaks for $32-35 but it's a la carte. So if you want a lettuce wedge, that is like $8.

It should cover a meal for two, minus liquor and tip though.

Go for lunch. Ruth's lunch menu is pretty reasonable/cheaper Smaller portions but big enough to satisfy.

I guess this explains the love I often see around here. I've never been, but I've always been intrigued when I see it discussed as a viable option here. I tend to think of it as a lackluster chain steak place, with better options to be had.

I like the BR location better than Lafayette. Steaks are cooked better in BR. Did not see anything other than a la carte last week in BR
