Why in the hell would we cut our most versatile and best RB...

He's our most expensive.
Our staff is committed to Ingram.
Sproles is arguably our most versatile.
Ivory is arguably our best runner.
Cadet is arguably more than capable to be our 4th back.

I love PT, but I honeslty wouldn't be surprised if he was cut or traded. Especially since he was so close to being traded a couple of years ago to NE.

isn't the primary job of a 3-4DE to run stop...? wasn't he extremely horrible even in doing that? correct me if I'm wrong

People are really confused about this. He got himself out of position by often times going really wide on his pass rush. That was the problem, and that is only a 4-3 problem. That would not happen in a 3-4. Also, the OLB's were awful and made the d-line look worse at stopping the run than they actually were.

Also, people keep saying he has no experience playing 3-4 DE. This has been repeated multiple times, but Will Smith actually played a lot of DE on a three man line in the Gregg Williams defense. Shanle and Fujita were used a lot as 3-4 OLB'S.

Cadet hasn't proved anything in the NFL yet. Ivory runs hard and I like him but you have to wonder about his ball security issues at times.

PT is probably our most versatile back. He's an all-around good RB, decent pass blocker, arguably one of the most underrated(if not best) screen back in the game, and rarely fumbles. The way Payton uses RBs, I'm not sure how you could justify getting rid of him despite those points. Only thing Sproles does better than PT is he's a better receiving threat and has homerun speed+ST. It's not like PT is making 10 million a year. They have far more deserving people to be cut before him, IMO.

I think PT does pretty much everything you can possibly ask from him. He's not amazing in any one area in particular(except maybe his screen back ability), he just does everything good. The very definition of versatility. He even plays ST too.

It's the classic "well he's not that good of a pass rusher anymore so he must be better suited for a 3-4 now theory". It's bullshite

Nope, you are misunderstanding what's being said. It's more like "he is no longer a great edge pass rusher, but he is a big, strong guy with a pretty good bull rush. His best assets and his size make him a better fit for a 3-4." What I said and what you said are completely different.

Yep. He's a 4-3 DE that has allowed himself to get out of shape. He's more fat than strong.

he's fat and strong. Being bigger means he's harder to move.

Tell that to the OT's who escort him out of the play on the regular.

He's a great book end. And his book ended long ago. Time for the next chapter not from his book. Sense? Made some? Yeah?
