While I have the same list as you, I would put Pat Henry as more of a lock than Miles. He was the coach for the best dynasty in NCAA history.

no it wouldn't. football isn't the only sport at LSU.

Maybe not the only but it is THE sport and he won a championship.

The only reason to leave NS off is having your feelings hurt.

Any all football list without little Nicky Red Devil is absurd. This is not a list of who we like as a person. The guy brought LSU a National Chamoionship and doesn't belong on the list. That's It's incredible how how some of you are still so butt hurt over him leaving LSU and winning 3 of 4 at Gumpville. Like him or not, the man can coach and knows how to organize a college football program from the top down.

I was there as well. It's hard to fathom for people who WEREN'T there in person, but basketball games in the AC were just as exciting as those in Tiger Stadium. The Arena was always full (Including the student section) and there was this eager anticipation of going to games just like in the structure across the street.

Creative and funny, but Saban finally got the program through to excellence after decades of trying. He absolutely deserves a spot, LSU has far better reason to give him a statue than Bama did.

lolz. When we're listing greatest LSU coaches of time, I'll put Saban on top but I'm not putting him on my Rushmore. All this talk about he would have won multiple titles had he stayed is all hindsight. Crazy how everyone forgets we went to lose 3 games (including our bowl game) in 2004. Who's to say we wouldn't have lost 3 or even 4 the next year? When the last Saban recruit walked off campus, it became all Miles' team. Like I said, list the most influential or most important LSU coaches, Saban's on top. But when it comes to achievements on the field, representation to and overall loyalty to the university, meh. Saban might be the reason for the 2003 title, but he is also the reason we don't have the 2011 or 2012 title and is also at this moment coming up with ways to keep us from winning the 2013 title.

Miles
Bertman
Brown
McClendon

NO. He left for his dream job when it became clear it was there. I don't blame him at all for leaving. You sound like YOU wish he was still here.

For the Men and the major sports it's obvious:
Basketball: Dale Brown - master recruiter/showman
Football: Les Miles - record speaks for itself
Baseball: Skip Bertman - simply the best

2nd tier:
Basketball: Press Maravich - mainly b/c of Pistol
Football: Charlie Mac - longevity and class
Baseball: Current coach - already w 1 NCAA champ.

Caveat: I used to think coaching was nothing more than getting great players and letting them play. However, after watching Miles and Saban over the past 10 years at LSU it's apparent that a great coach can and will create a great program. Coaches do make a difference. It also helps that Miles and Saban are also great recruiters. Charlie Mac was my personal favorite but he never recruited much nationally like Miles does today (see 2013 recruiting class).

I'd throw Saban on there and here's why. Say LSU actually made some sort of Mt. Rushmore on Campus and we all sucked it up and recognized him as the coach that turned it all around here at LSU. You would definitely have Skip, Miles, Saban, CMac, dale brown etc. How bad would something like that piss off Alabama? That would be much cooler than a lame arse statue. Gumps wouldn't shut up about it. They actually feed off our hate for saban. Time to let it go and honor him as well as the '03 championship team. Ten year anniversary!!!!

Mt Rushmore has 4 statues. So in keeping with that number, here is my list including the best of the best for the 3 major sports, and 1 representing the very best oamong all the minor sports...

1) Football - Les Miles...1NC, best overall winning % and for his loyalty.
2) Basketball - Daddy Dale...nobody put basketball on the national map with all odds against him like DB.
3) Baseball - Skip Bertman...hands down most impactful all around coach ever at LSU...any sport with 5 NC
4) Minor Sports - Pat Henry - most NCs in track than any other sport at LSU.

Who is your LSU Mount Rushmore of Coaches?

I would agree Saban was a great coach at LSU - for 2 seasons: (2001 and 2003.) However, he lost 3 or more games in ALLLL but one season, and lost embarrasingly to:
UAB, VT, UT, Florida (3 times, twice by a rout), Arkansas (TWO Hail Marys ??????) and Iowa.
He "inherited" Dinardo's talent just like people claim Miles "inherited' his.
And the Miami Dolphins was not his 'dream' job.
Wayne Huizenga had to land his personal helicopter on Saban's Highland Road estate to beg him.
And Saban took the bait. He could have stayed several more years at LSU, but he would have left anyway for another job. The man has showed no loyalty, no scruples (resigning to his asst coaches on the INTERCOM in Miami?), and no honesty or integrity. ("I will NOT be the next coach at Alabama, I don't care how many times you guys ask me, so STOP asking me.")
There were also rumors that he HAD TO LEAVE Baton Rouge because of some - indiscretion ???

"""""""""""THIS""""""""""" is a man who deserves his bust on a 'Mt. Rushmore' ???????????????

None of the other coaches mentioned left under the same circumstances as Saban.
You could say Dietzel did, but he came back to be AD. Henry maybe, but not McClendon, Brown, Bertman, or Moore.

Miles has turned down his alma mater TWICE to stay in Baton Rouge. Saban would have NEVER done that.

So Saban's head on an LSU Mount Rushmore ??????

You have got to be kidding........

Bertman, Brown, McClendon, and Miles all RUN CIRCLES around Saban as far as character, integrity, honesty, and LOYALTY......

I say absolutely not on Charlie Mac. Nice overall record, but a lot of that was our patsy non-conference schedule.
His SEC record was 60-41-3. Only 1 SEC championship and two second place finishes in 18 years.
