Saw this for the first time a couple years ago. It seems like a good idea, but I'm a little worried about some type of malfunction

You should know you dust fartin old timer.

Apparently it was very popular on rabbit hunts. I've never heard of anybody shooting a deer with one though.

my dad did it and showed me how. I don't think he ever killed one like that after I started hunting with him. He said he would do it while squirrel hunting if he had forgot his buckshot.

Why would you need buck shot while squirrel hunting?

Incase you see a deer

Eta: I'd feel better with a wax slug than a cut shell.

I guess I'm the only one that gives up on squirrels during deer season then. If I see a deer during deer season it's because thats what I'm hunting.

A couple years I was squirrel huntin a buddy's land in the intercostal canal in port Allen. I jumped a big arse 10 pt. of course all I had was low brass 6 shots all I could do was be pissed off. Since then, if I'm chasin squirrels durin deer season, I always carry a handful of buckshot with me.

The old timers I know were prone to just going hunting. Bring buckshot and fine shot. Shoot ducks, squirrels, rabbits, and maybe a deer in one trip. All they had was shotguns. They didn't go deer hunting or squirrel hunting, they just went hunting.

I have heard of it. Never heard of somebody putting down a deer with cut shells. But I'm sure it happened.

I can't see the video. Guess my work computer has me blocked. This is the first I've heard of "cut shells." Maybe I'm not an "old timer" yet after all??
