re: Drive-in theaters...who's been to one?

I went to one this past summer in Ennis, TX. Not too far from Dallas. I saw Savages and Ted double feature. I wanna say it was like $6 to get in. The audio played on an FM station, so you could keep the windows rolled up. Or they did have the speaker thing that hooks onto the window if you choose. This particular drive-in has digital projectors I believe and the picture quality was pretty good. It also had about 6 different screens. So while we were watching Savages/Ted, other people were watching Avengers, that Katy Perry movie, etc.

I had a blast. It was so comfortable to watch the movie too. I could get comfortable in the seat, the GF and I could talk if we wanted to without disturbing anyone else. I'd go more often if they had a movie theater a little closer to where I live.

Richardson is getting an Alamo Drafthouse this summer, so I'm looking forward to that. They should definitely think about putting one in Baton Rouge. Alamo is perfect for a college town.

I saw the original Star Wars at a drive-in theater during the original release in, what, 1976 or 1977.

There is a drive-in in my town you get to see 2 new releases for $5, you can't beat it. Plus, it is great for people watching before the movies start.

quote:

There's one in the next town over that shows a double feature of first run movies for $5 an adult, it's awesome. The guy who does the movie hotline is unintentionally hilarious.

LINK

I should've read the thread because that is the exact one I go to all of the time during the summer.

New Moon in Lake Charles. Saw some really bad movies as a little kid; Krull, Blood Beach. Did see The Warriors for the first time there, though.

Oh yeah ~ I was in high school in the 60's. It was horrible in the summer though with the heat and mosquitoes.

There's a Drive-In outside Birmingham. The fiance and I went to it last year. We brought our own food and drinks and just sat in the back of my SUV with the tailgate open. It was a lot of fun but I don't think it'd be ideal if you wanted to see anything more than a popcorn movie or romantic comedy.

That's the best part about drive-ins. Not only do you get in for really cheap but you don't have to buy overpriced movie food.

Yep, I don't remember any titles, but they were mostly those B horror movies, if I remember right. I would've loved to have seen Krull there.

I saw it at the Charles Cinema.

There is one about 30 minutes from where I live. It is open seasonally. I try to take my daughter to see one movie a summer there.

There's one outside Dothan, AL. Double feature for $5.

I've been a few times. I opened only like 10 years ago though
