well it seems to me that sam montgomery took 1-9 off and did so with alot of his teamates.

Because on NC it was like everyone had sam attitude and they picked a hell of a time.

I recommend Boudreaux's Butt Paste for that lasting case of butt hurt you are nursing.

Who chooses team leaders? The coaching staff or the team? The coaches can nominate whomever they wish, but the players will follow who they want. Don't you remember anything from when you were an athlete?

quote:

I cant believe that some of you are justifying taking plays off

I can't believe that you are so holier-than-thou to believe that all players do not take plays off at some time in a season. Nobody and I do mean NO body can keep up a high level of intensity throughout an entire season of football.

quote:

In the future taking plays off should mean you are on the sideline watching.

Tough one aren't ya?

Has anyone ever watched a GAME and came away thinking that Sam didn't play with great effort? I cannot remember ever seeing him with a lack of effort in the game. I can recall the game against South Carolina that Montgomery was on the sideline yelling to the team "Play like me!"

I think the answer was honest and I still love big Sam!

While my first instinct is to say many players on all teams do the same against lesser competition, maybe this explains why LSU struggles so much more against those teams than LSU should.

Anyone that watched N Tx, Towson, Idaho, miss St, ole miss, auburn, Clemson didnt need Sam to tell them this. Effort was not had in every game. Not going to discount any player's choice for coming to and playing for lsu. That being said, new blood may be just what we need.

I don't know about the other games but I thought the effort was good against Clemson. And the defense always looked like it played hard so his comment did surprise me.

This is disturbing on so many levels, it's not funny. If one of the supposed "leaders" of your team can't give his all each week, the team will follow.
In a way, the coaches will be glad he's leaving - a chance to start with someone new.

It's funny to me that many people are so shocked by this. Players do it all the time and he's just one of the crazy ones to tell on himself.

Exactly. Had he not said anything, he would basically be like most out there.

I have yet to see this

Reality is, does anyone think any player on teh team gave their all against Towson, N. TX, or Idaho?

Doesn't change a thing. Anyone watching the games could see that multiple players didn't give 100% this year against inferior talent.

the truth. I saw it and posted on it earlier this year. some of our kids had plateauded and were really only trying to get through the year unscathed. it was obvious to me before and, especially, after the loss to bama and in the bowl game. I don't like it....but I was never in a position where an injury in a meaningless (to some) game could cost me $$$. the exodous of juniors may be a blessing in disguise because we now have kids, like in '11, who are busting hump to make a name for themselves. some of us live in a time warp where the only thing that matters is that these 'student-athletes' sufficiently feed our egos and give and use up everything they have for the ole war skule. that's not reality and, frankly....it never was.

get better.

Based on how many people left early/didn't show up at all and the ones who were there made no noise, our "fans" took those weeks off too; so I don't know what every is mad about.

Stated this in the first thread that got whacked.

To me its a bigger reflection on the coaches than it is SM.
They knew it.. obv let him get away with it.

If they are ok with what can fans do?
Besides watch us play second fiddle to NS and alabama... Bc I gurantee you that's not accepted there, regardless which player it is.
