I haven't been. Root gets mixed reviews here. You might check the dining guide to see if there are any reviews.

I would definitely get some of the charcuterie items

Most of the criticism here is that the entrees themselves aren't great

I haven't tried enough of them to know

I think there have been some on and off service issues, as well.

Friends of mine have tried it twice. Both times, the result was mixed and I think they've written it off now.

I tried it once and the service was fantastic. Server was very helpful with describing menu items as well.

It's the kind of restaurant I'd like to see work well. I've been surprised at the mixed reviews. Sounds like they need consistency in food and service. Seems to be up and down.

I plan on returning for a second visit. I hope it's as enjoyable as the first

Report back. I hope it's a good experience. I've been hesitant to put it on the list. Still watching....

It's a legit place but different. If you go get the cohiba smoked scallops, it really enjoyed them when I went.

Definitely an ambitious place. I enjoyed both my visits there.

You mean the place on the same block as La Bocas, Rock N Sakes, and Rio Mars?

I haven't tried 'em yet, but like others here, I've heard mixed reviews. I suppose I need to give them a try

Root is maybe the best new restaurant in the past year or two. The only place it might get mixed reviews is here. It's fantastic and the service is great.

I posted a pretty thorough review when I went in early October. They had just released the fall menu. The ideas of the menu are great and for the most part so was the food. Our server seemed to be somewhat slow on timing the items and drinks but I won't let a single server change my opinion of the place. Highly recommended and very creative, but very far from creole standard New Orleans fare.

I really like the place. The compressed watermelon salad and "Yorkie" dessert are both legit.

Is Rio Mars Bruno's brother?

Seriously, went there this Thursday night, and had an excellent experience. Start with the charticure or sausage plate. We had a big group and did one of each. I tasted the scallops, the tea infused fresh fish (cobia that night) and I had the roasted marrow bones. All were excellent. And being a pork lover, had to love the Faceoff cocktail-face bacon infused bourbon drink.

Service was excellent, even with a large table. Would return. I've been to all the others on that block and it ranks up there with the rest.

Gospel right here. I liked it when I went but I worry about the longevity of a place like this at that location. Since it is not the typical New Orleans creole joint, I don't see it on the convention goers hit list. I hope it continues to thrive though. I might check it out next weekend.
