red snapper season and family vacation

i TOLD the wife when federally approved snapper season was and that I WILL NOT GO TO THE BEACH DURING THIS TIME. guess what happened? now me and my oldest son get to look like the family assholes.
advice, other than go stock up on personal lube?

been married for +15 years. i know when to pick my battles and fishing is one battle i'm prepared to sleep on the couch over. i can "do without" now that i'm 40+. outdoors/camp/beer fills lots of time that the poonany used to and i enjoy it more.
