I would say I'm surprised by the Jesuit loss but they said they were most worried about their ESJ matchup.
Can't say I'm all that torn up about it, though.

Me either, Tha Herg. We're Crusader fans, and my co-workers husband is on the ESJ staff. ESJ are a good club and could continue to do well.

Quick thread hijack:
Go to BM's website and check out the video of the wrestling coach, Deauterive, presenting the team with their state championship gear.
He gives a passionate speech not only to the wrestlers, but to the basketball team and the soccer team (who recently lost in the semi's)
He also tells the story of Jay (forget his last name), who won state back in the 80's and now suffers ALS. They dedicated the season to him and got the entire student body to shout "one for Jay." Truly an awesome moment.
/hijack.

Jay....he's my age, I think, he's at every game for football and basketball.

Houma Christian 85 East Iberville 68
quote:
With just 2.1 seconds left in the third quarter, Houma Christian senior standout Nate Frye grabbed an inbound pass in his backcourt and heaved a prayer of a shot up to the skies.
The ball traveled through the air in a perfect arch and landed in the Warriors’ net from 55-feet out as the buzzer sounded, sending the loud and crowded Houma Christian cheering section in E.D. White Catholic’s gym onto its feet in celebration.
The half-court shot, which was three of Frye’s career-high 43 points, gave the Warriors all the momentum they needed to pull off a 85-68 Class 1A regional round win over East Iberville on Friday.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the Episcopal Newman upset. That was the surprise of any of the tournaments.
I don't have any ties to either school, but that seems crazy to me.

Yeah!
Episcopal beat Newman in basketball and soccer last night. Episcopal won the State Championship in soccer and beat the #1 seed Newman in basketball.
Ouch, hurts to be a Newman fan today.

If you read this article LINK you will see....
The kid who scored 43 his dad is the HC. He played at ED White, which is where this game was played(Houma Christian has no gym yet). I am sure this was his fuel in scoring 43.
quote:
After the game, Houma Christian officials thanked E.D. White Catholic for letting the Warriors use its gym to host the playoffs.
Nate Frye said it was an honor to play in the same gym as his father Coach Frye, who is a former E.D. White Catholic basketball standout.
“I’ll never forget this moment,” Nate Frye said. “My dad and uncles played in this gym. It was just a special feeling winning this game (Friday). I had my career high and never scored 43 points before, so it was just good to come in this gym where all my ancestors played and do this. I give all glory to God.”
