Hey guys, I'm currently working up in New Jersey but should be back home in Baton Rouge sometime next month.

I'm looking to buy a Mini 30. Does Cabela's or Bass Pro carry these in the Baton Rouge area? Any other gun retailers you might suggest where I can get one for a fairly decent price?

Why a mini 30 when you could get an AR or AK? They will be hard to find.

Understand I'm not bashing it just curious.
Isn't the 30 an 7.62x39?

Yes, it's a 7.62x39. Is there a problem with this ammo I'm not aware of?

A friend has one and I really like the feel of it. The weight is very good and it seems to fit nicely in my grip. I never really cared for neither the AK nor the AR.

Sometimes you just come across a rifle that fits.

Fair enough. I can appreciate that. The 7.62x39 Is a good round. It's all just really hard to find. If there was one grip against the ammo is that it is hard to find with a brass case. Most is steel case which can't be reloaded.

I had a mini 14 for a while and sold it. The action on the mini is the same or at least extremely similar to the m14.
