A Skip Bertman story from when he was LSU's baseball coach....

Back when Ryan Theriot was LSU's starting shortstop the team was flying back from a three-game series at Georgia in Athens. Theriot had made 2 or 3 errors in the series, which Georgia won, and the mood on the flight home was grim.
On the flight back, Skip started having chest pains. They called for the team trainer to go see if he could help Skip.
When the trainer got to Skip he asked Bertman what the problem was. Skip grabbed his chest and said, "It's Theriot. I think he's killing me!"

How bout Skip Bertman's recruiting philosphy:
"Son, you can go to that other school and try to lead them to Omaha, or you can come to LSU and go to Omaha with us."

Was present at a business luncheon with Skip doing a presentation. CLASSIC. The details of some of his LSU baseball moments were astounding. He had the audience laughing their arses off. Will never forget it.

One of my favorite annual threads

My favorite Skip quote was when one of our pitchers got blown up. The postgame press conference went something like this "I've had enough of that, Don't blame the kid... I'm the one who thought he could pitch"

Wasn't Skip the one who coined the term "StarkVegas"?

Skip to a starting pitcher on a mound visit during the 3rd inning...
"Son....I'm trying to win a championship...and you're not helping..."

I've sat through several of his presentations like the one which you described. He is a very entertaining speaker.
Another Skipper true story:
In one of his last seasons as head baseball coach near the end of his career, LSU was playing one of its mid-week night games.
The first base umpire had made two or three questionable calls, all of which went against the Tigers.
After the last one, the Skipper went hobbling/trotting out to the umpire. After a few minutes, the discussion got very animated.
At one point Skip turned his cap around backwards and was really getting in the umpire's face all the while pointing his finger at the umpire. The crowd was loving it.
Finally, the umpire had enough and he threw Skip out of the game.
Back then Skip held a post-game press conference in the old trailer/office on the right field side of the old Box behind the bleachers. One of the reporters asked Skip what was it he said to the umpire that got him tossed out.
Skip replied, "He told me he was going to throw me out of the game if I didn't shut up and go back to the dugout. I told him, 'You can't throw me out, I'm a legend!!' That's when he threw me out...."

There could be a whole thread about StarkVegas/Skip jokes alone...
"Starkville is Indian for trailer park"
"When we book our hotel in Starkville we ask for a room WITHOUT a view"

Another Skip'ism, tho I think he stole it from Earl Weaver. Mid wk game, blah, boring, players going thru the motions. He decides to get the crowd/team fired up by getting ejected ( this all came out in his post game presser ). Bang bang play at 1b. Hobbles out, looks at the 1st b. ump." Can I get tossed out for thinking something?". Ump says no. Skip then says "Good. I think you're an arsehole". Gone pecan, crowd/team gets into it, Tigers win in a blowout.

The postgame press conference went something like this "I've had enough of that, Don't blame the kid... I'm the one who thought he could pitch"
I heard it a little differently and it involved Rick Greene, who was drafted by the NY Yankees out of high school but came to LSU and pitched here instead. He was later drafted in the first round by the Detroit Tigers and pitched for them for a brief time.
Early in his career at LSU Greene was having a terrible outing......a couple of walks, he hit a batter, threw a wild pitch and gave up several hard hits including a home run or two.
When Skip got to the mound to take Greene out of the game Skip told him, "Rick, I don't want you to think it's your fault what happened tonight. It's not your fault. It's my fault. I never should have recruited you....."
