His offensive game is much better than I thought it'd be.
He looks like he doesn't give a shite on the defensive end half the time. It's as if he's buying in to the NBA notion that playing defense isn't cool.

here's a nice stat line for you "disappointment people"
anthony davis per 36minutes
16.1 pts (50.8% fg; 72.6% ft) - 9.6rebs - 1.2ast - 1.8TO - 1.6stl - 2.4blk
anthony davis actual stats (27:53)
12.5 pts (same %) - 7.4rebs - 1.0ast - 1.4TO - 1.2stl - 1.9blk
vs.
dwight howard per 36
13.2pts (52%fg; 67.1%ft) - 11.1rebs - 1.0ast - 2.2TO - 1.0stl - 1.8blk
dwight howard actual stats (32:36)
12.0pts - 10rebs - .9ast - 2.0TO - .9stls - 1.7blks
Not half bad right?
more points, less rebounds, more assists, less turnovers, more steals, and more blocks.

he's 10th in the league in blocks per game (3rd amongst PFs). Of those 10, he has the third to last minutes per game.
3rd amongst PFs in steals per game.
he's doing pretty well...still learning the NBA and the defense. He should be an elite defensive player.
...Larry Sanders is one hell of a shot blocker.

he's 17th in the NBA in PER

Not a disappointment but he's leaving a lot of room for improvement for sure
And this is shocking for a 19 year old rookie how? He's not coming into the league fully formed like Tim Duncan.
Davis is already an above average NBA rebounder for his position based on his rebounding rates, has a top 5 in the league block %, and is also top 5 in STL for big men. We knew he needed to work on his offense, but that has been a pleasant surprise.

also on pace to be on the 7th rookie to ever have a PER above 20.
but nah, not good enough

His dunking has been top-notch
Wish he would shoot 3s like he did in the rising starz game

The only things disappointing to me are his inconsistent effort (and hustle), and him getting pushed around a good bit on D.
Those things will improve with age, strength, and experience.
Everything else he's been great.

When I see AD23 struggling, I like to think back to last offseason when everyone was talking about who they wanted the Pels to draft (pre winning the lottery).
Some said Thomas Robinson, Harry Barnes, Terrence Ross, Myers Leonard, Kendall Marshall, Royce White, Zeller, Terrence Jones, to name a few.
Sons, imagine the disappoint this season if you drafted one of those guys.
AD leads all rookies in double doubs (10). And he missed 13 games. Last season Faried led rookies with 12 in the shortened season.
He's the 7th youngest player in the NBA. Think about that. There are roughly 450 players in the NBA.
23rd in PER in the league, better than Milsap, Cousins, Aldridge, Monroe, Lee, Howard, Garnett, Horford, Marc Gasol, among others. Let that soak in. And remember he's the 7th youngest player in the league.

This, I never questioned his motor, but idk what's up

his inconsistent effort
The dude often will grab a rebound, loose ball, or block a shot and be one of the first on the other end.

I did, he was consistently the last person back on Defense in the Olympics. He just kind of loafed to the other end of the court, it annoyed me and I commented on it here.

Towards the beginning of the season he was consistently the last person back. It was very noticeable.

you did quite a bit, and I didn't agree at first, but i'm noticing it more.
i think it's a few factors
1) he's still growing into his body. i imagine that could have some bearing on stamina, right?
2) he's played a LOT of basketball over the past year or so...with little to no rest in between.
i'm hoping he just kinda goes into obscurity this summer, hits the gym hard, and come back after a few months with 10-20 pounds added of muscle and much better conditioning.
