Check out this link!

Deng Deng

You have got to be kidding me!!! If this is the guy that is coming to LSU, he may be the best of the bunch! What incredible athleticism!!!

It is the opinion of many he is no longer coming. At the time he was offered he was suppose to have 3 years of eligibility. But it turned out he only has 2 and don't think LSU wanted him unless they had 3 years with him. This is what led to us taking Malone.

Deng isn't signed, he likely wont be a part of this class. Malone took his spot.

He isnt doing that great this season at Lee College. Averaging 9 points, 7 boards, 2.7 blocks, 1 assist and 3.8 turnovers a game.

Not to be negative Ned, but I'd rather watch Jordan Mickey highlights. You know, the kind where a player is actually dunking on decent competition.

And all signs pointing to Deng Deng not having a spot anymore.

Surely he can be developed with good coaching. He has incredible physical skills. I hope he is still a possibility!

If you cant stand out on the JUCO level, you're not going to make any impact in major college basketball, especially when you only have 2 years to come in and play.

9 pts (47%)
7 rebs
2.7 blks
1 ast
3.8 TO

Nothing to get excited about there for a big man at the JUCO level. By comparison, here are John Odo's stats from his last year in JUCO:

12.4 pts (55%)
14.3 rebs
4.7 blks
0.6 ast
2.1 TO

Odo dominated JUCO in a couple aspects (boards and blocked shots). He also was an efficient scorer for a big man dropping over 12 a game at a 55% clip. He also doesnt turn the ball over as much.

I think there's a good reason why JJ went out to get Malone and essentially drop Deng Deng. With Malone we are at our max scholarship players for next year...so for Deng Deng to get a spot again we'll have to lose a underclassmen to attrition (JOB III - NBA, Collins/Courtney - transfer|cut|medical). Even if we lose a guy to attrition, I would go to bet we go after a guy like Brian Bridgewater over Deng Deng.

This is why I'm excited about Odo.

And this is why I think he still has enough ability to score when needed.

Totally unrelated but I found this guy in JUCO and apparently isn't committed to any DI school right now (he's a sophomore, so he should be).

Jarekious Bradley (6'5, 220 SF...can play 2, 3 maybe even some 4)

22.3 pts (54.3% FG, 43.8% 3pt...and takes 5-6 threes a game)
7.6 rebs

...doesn't distribute at all really (22 ast in 20 games). Turnovers are a little high (about 2.3 a game) but not bad. Seems he was a freshman at Kent State last year and was kicked off team for a burglary incident against his girlfriend and wound up at East Mississippi C.C. I guess that's why no one has picked him up...but damn, those are VERY impressive numbers and his size is really good. This is the type of player you sometimes should take a chance on.

I'd prefer this guy LINK

Shades of MT5, you know (That's Marcus Thornton for those who may have already forgotten).

But any wing that can create his own shot would be a more than welcome addition.

It's confusing to me why everyone seems to use dominate and it should be dominant!

Highlight tapes can be deceiving....looking at the tape, I would say he is fluid, has nice blocking ability, and can shoot....

However, the numbers dont lie and this on the JUCO level is not that impressive.

Looks like a freak athletically speaking. But at the same time, it looks like he's playing rec league competition and is averaging less than 10 points against a bunch of short white boys. I wouldn't expect much of this dude.

I posted that,
He was a complete non-factor. He was not a freak athlete.
He did move well however for being so tall.
More like a more athletic eddie Ludwig, but half as fundamental.

Have we even established that the Deng Deng in that video is the one we were recruiting and not the one that is currently at Long Beach St?
