Company being bought out

Hey guys, my place of employment is being bought out by another buyer.

I have a feeling that we all are going to have to 'reapply' for our old positions.

This is in Louisiana and basically we are all 'at-will' employees.

What should I look for?

TIA

Depends what industry you are in, specific division and how big your company is etc..

In the previous bank I worked at, we merged with another bank that was almost of equal size. But I did not have to reapply for the same position because our department and work load would double. There were other divisions that got cut though and had to look for jobs. So it really depends.

The business is about 70 employees.

I feel some are going to be let go, especially on the management level.

I am in sales and I do decent money wise, not OT money

Just wondering what tips anyone of ya'll can offer.

Thanks

No, just inside sales.

Management is usually the first people let go when a new company buys.

Since your company is very small, I would say they will have you reapply and keep the best ones on staff. It would be wise to be sending out apps as a backup plan.

Just out of curiosity, what type of sales? Commission? Salary + Commission? Just Salary?

If you were strictly commission, I'd give you a 99.9% chance of retaining employment, because salesmen are valuable commodity. With you drawing a salary, that makes your risk of being laid off skyrocket, Unfortunately.

Yes hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Definitely get that resume together, and start putting apps out ASAP.

But here's the bright side, the career of your dreams may be waiting right around the corner.

Best Wishes Bro

Do you know anyone who works in Human Resources at another company? Maybe a friend of a friend or someone you went to school with in the past.

If so, ask for advice and tap into that resource.

My husband was to be transferred with a company and he did not want to go. A HR guy he knew at a large corp. counseled him and coached him on how to handle the situation. Worked out great.

My company buys out competitors all the time.

Start looking for another job...especially if you are middle management or if you are with a non-core profit center of the new company.
