Chris Jackson going for 55 vs. Ole Miss when Gerald Glass went for 53.

If I'm not mistaken, and I might be, it was the same day Buster Douglas shocked the world vs. Tyson. (fuzzy memories)

Buster Douglas KO'd Tyson on the night Chris went off on Tennessee for 49 and Allan Houston went for 43. I knew there was a crazy LSU game that day.

283. And it was in practice. Their coach made them shoot 25 freethrows at the end of practice every day, but you couldn't stop shooting if it would break a streak. So he shot his 25 and made his last one, so he kept on shooting til he missed. When it was all said and done, he'd made 283 in a row. He was a Junior when he did that.

I was the same year as CJ, and my high school coach my Junior year had been an assistant at Gulfport (where CJ played) the year before. So we hear alllll about Chris Jackson that year (the coach wasn't very good, so he was only there for a year). I was so excited when I found out he was heading to LSU the same time I was. Between him and Vernel Singleton (who I got to play with in high school in Natchez once) and the other guys, that '88-'89 season was one of the most fun teams I've ever watched. Maybe the most fun non-Final Four LSU basketball team I've ever seen. Just excitement and entertainment almost every trip up the court, almost every night. That was some fun times in the PMAC. And beating Georgetown in the SuperDome was freaking awesome!

Best LSU player since Pistol Pete. Just too much fun to watch.

Chris Jackson lived down the street from me.

He would come back to visit his mom and play at the park on my street.

He was always really nice.

This is such a close-minded statement. I disagree with Jackson's philosophy, but he did not harm anyone. All he did was sit during the National Anthem, and explained that he felt uncomfortable giving allegiance to anyone but God. He also said America had a history of tyranny and oppression. Is that really an incorrect statement? It is up for interpretation, and it is clear that Chris Jackson had very well thought-out beliefs. He had convictions and stood by them. You may disagree with his convictions, but I doubt you have the strength he did to stand by them with what was at stake, both publicly and financially.

Maybe so. The context wasn't clear to me. To think he is a bad person or that he screwed up his life is wrong.

The CJ at LSU was awesome... The Muhommad Abdullah ruaafff was an idiot. All of you that say he stood up for his beliefs so praise him need to get a clue. He was fine taking millions of American dollars, but just " hated" what it stood for. If you're ok with any athlete refusing to stand for our flag and disrespecting this country and what it stands for just because he played for LSU....sad. A lot of men have died for that flag and yes he has the right to be an idiot because of them. That also gives me the right to dislike his arse.

I was a student for both of CJ's seasons. Wonderful times. I recall always sitting in front of a guy in the student section who would say "Dick 'em Chris" every time Jackson would start to drive on someone toward the basket....and many more times than not, Chris did indeed "dick 'em"
