Jeff Duncan article on why we shouldn't trade Gordon

He basically says that we shouldn't rush into anything unless it's a stellar deal (which, IMO, Klay and a filler is not) and that messing with chemistry by constantly flipping the roster around is not a way to build a winning team. It all comes back to Gordon's inability to stay healthy with one of his main points being that our projected starting 5 has barely played together, but Gordon has shown that he can be a star and a closer that fits in perfectly with Davis. His trade value couldn't be any lower right now since he's having his worst season as a pro and is still in the process of rehabbing, so we should at least give him the rest of this season and possibly even next season before we really try to move him. A healthy Klay looks nice right now on paper, but the Nuggets teams of the past few years should show you that a solid all-around roster is great for winning regular season games, but come playoff time, you need a star in those final minutes to put you over the top. Not to mention that Gordon has elite perimeter defense, something that isn't being factored in when talking about trading for Klay.

Jeff Duncan - most unqualified loser to discuss any sports.

I agree

Also agree. You have to let your assets mature. Constantly buying and selling just makes you active.

Very important point. Try to avoid selling low.

I mostly agree but as a Hornets fan, I have absolutely not seen
He plays some really bad basketball late in games for us. That is all.

last season, in a VERY small sample size, he did well late in games. i think he hit one, maybe two, winners?
not so much this season, though.

Duncan is a douche is only taking this side because everyone is on the trade Gordon train.
That being said, he's right.

I think the question that Demps & Co. have to ask themselves is whether they believe Gordon will be on a Davis led title contending team.

Being the anti-Fletcher can't be a bad thing, though.

This season, sure. As I said, he's having his worst season as a pro. His value could not possibly be any lower unless he has another catastrophic injury. After his last season with the Clippers, he was being talked about as possibly becoming the best shooting guard in the league once Kobe and Wade were done. Even last year he played well in the few games he was healthy. If he can rehab properly for the rest of the season and the offseason, then his value as a healthy player is much greater than the value of Klay Thompson. It's definitely a risk, but you have to take risks in order to build a championship contender.
