Why does society go from despising an athlete to suddenly loving them? Artest did one of most despicable things in sports yet when he won the Finals everyone thought off him as a lovable person. Tyson beat women and went to jail yet after The Hangover he is lovable too.

Lebron - despised after "taking talents" TV spot.

Loved now.

Oh?

Tyson was arrested in July 1991 for the rape of 18-year-old Desiree Washington

Tiger is regaining favor too. I guess I am just a very unforgiving person.

I didn't think that what Artest did was the most despicable thing in sports, and I certainly didn't despise him.

But I also am not the biggest Artest fan right now, and I'm unaware of the hordes of people who love him now.

I remember him being on Jimmy Kimmel and he was infatuated with him. He couldn't stop singing his praises. Wasn't George Foreman hated too?

I'd say there is a good amount of people that never stopped liking Tiger. He did what pretty much all athletes and celebrities do in sleeping around.

Well I for one was always on Artest's side in that brawl. Sure, he hit the wrong guy when he went up there, but if somebody was immature enough to throw beer at Artest on the floor, he deserved a beatdown.

I guess since he was a boxer, it only seemed to enhance his image. I'm not saying he was going to be able to run for president or do a guest spot on Barney at the time but he wasn't really despised.

Now Tiger, on the other hand, took a public image beating like I've rarely seen.

It's pretty funny that people consider Tyson guilty but when an athlete today gets accused of rape usually under the same scenario it's always chalked up to a lying woman.
