Nice weapon but the concept is out of date IMO.

Look at law enforcement load out: used to be .38 revolvers and pump shotguns. Now, it's high capacity semi-auto pistols and AR pattern rifles (personal defensive weapons if wielded by DHS/deadly assault weapons if wielded by civilians) with 30 rd standard capacity magazines.

30 rds rifle ammo (caliber of your choice) >>>> 5-7 rounds of 00 buck IMHO

And the semi-auto sporting rifles of today are much easier to shoot and to deliver multiple accurate follow-up shots as needed.

In SHTF scenario, the shotgun could be useful once all better alternatives are exhausted.

.mil mainly uses 12ga. for door-breaching and then uses M4's for CQB from everything I've read.

YMMV

Shotgun > anything else when dealing with a close range situation.

My AK would be my weapon of choice if SHTF, but if I was protecting myself inside of a structure, shotgun all the way

That's gonna be a fun gun. I got the auto reload version in the 930.

Here's what yours will look like w the rail and stuff. Should you decide to go that route.

I got the rail, extension and lights an shite. I just need the pistol grip stock and I'll be done.

The up close in your face weapon was missing from my arsenal. This beast made the most since and also serves as an excellent home defense weapon. All decked out with accessories is very sweet. This beast will fire a slug round through practically any structure. And I can actually get ammo for it.

I love my 930. Same gun really ones just a pump and the 500 gets a half inch shorter barrel. It is a tad on the heavy side when you add the rail and stuff on it but it's a shotgun not an AR. Great home defense weapon and mossberg has built their reputation around shotguns. So it's their strongpoint.

For HD I got the buckshot slug.

. Just devastating

FYI, you can get the rail for it and extension off eBay for fairly cheap. The rail will be like $140-180. The tube extension was like $60-70. Everything else can vary towards your liking.

Shotguns are made better than they used to be too. There wasn't much recoil an from about 30 yards out I did a quick 2 burst just looking down the barrel.

As long as you hold it firmly against you, it's not like you're just spraying n praying. The pic isn't showing off bc obviously it could be better.

Just saying, when you're shooting down the hallway, slugs or not, it's not going to throw you off like you're suggesting. If you're looking down the sights like you should be then it's a non issue anyway.

I have a 930 also.

Ten rounds of 00 buckshot = close range solution to a lot of problems.

I only get 6+1 with the extension.
