They wouldn't let me bring my drink in so I did not get to check it out at the game Friday. It looked pretty cool though.

Very nice. As I said in a post in another thread, I thought there would be a display dedicated to Wally. But, I didn't see one. The display for Alex Box was cool.Explains to people who don't know about where the name came from. Morris' bat, Raph's bat... some really cool stuff. Assuming that all of the unsigned balls on display are for future use.

ETA: the game where Wally Sr. threw out the fist pitch would have been a good time to retire 31.

I thought it was very cool, even had tvs playing classic moments in tiger baseball history, had to stop and watch the Morris homer.

plus the fact that they named the HOF after him. I think they did this instead of retiring his number. And that was probably a good call.

Every player that has played will sign a ball. That's what the lady working told me

She also told me that bad arse Louisiana jersey was found in a barber shop

i would like to take another stroll through there. I'm sure there's stuff I missed. I may or may not have been intoxicated.

In the back there was a refernce to Wally and the fact that money raised from his foundation helped fund part of the exhibit.

It's professionally done and includes a good history of the program with inclusion of every player that wants to sign a baseball.

It is definitely one of a kind that you won't see in any other college venue.

A lot of the football stuff is in the Football OPs building, just not in a hall of fame exhibit
All the trophies are in cases but they could do something similar for football as well.

I read somewhere (program?) that there is one ball for each former (living?) LSU baseball player to sign whenever they can make it back to LSU. Obviously many of them haven't made it yet.

agreed (even though you already knew my opinions on the matter). fact is, had Wally not died when he did, he wouldn't be considered one of the best LSU players of all time. I am glad they honored his memory the way they did, but his number should not be retired

That's pretty cool. Give people a reason to go back in from time to time.

i noticed that, the MLB players list, the pictures of Omaha teams, and the All-Americans on the bats... think what it will look like in 20 years or so
