Probably one, with the other being the 3rd string guy.

Maybe neither, though.

Both should redshirt barring injury. Rivers needs as many snaps as possible when the score allows.

I think they both should redshirt as well, I am just curious to see if either of them passes up rivers.

I hate the idea of Freshmen QB's coming in and not RSing.

To me, that means the starter and/or back up isn't good enough to hold off a freshman QB. Freshmen QB's are inexperienced and do not grasp the entire offense....hence, offenses are hand cuffed.

Let them put on some weight, learn the playbook and gain some experience on the practice field.

Redshirt them both. If history tells us anything, whichever one wins the job and is clearly the #1 guy, the #2 guy will eventually transfer for playing time.

I dont see Rettig seeing the field unless mett and rivers get injured.

I would put a 2% chance on them putting in some plays for Jennings if he is ready, but I think they'll both redshirt, which is fine with me.

One of the two freshmen QBs could easily beat him out this spring/fall.

I agree with the Tool man. Maybe a package for Jennings ala RP, but doubtful.

How do you know this?

Randall and Bolden couldn't do it.

Why does everyone knock Rivers? I'm kinda anxious to see what he can do after two years here.

I don't see it. Sorry, but after 08, no way Les lets a freshman anywhere near the field as QB. This isn't a "Les won't play freshman" statement. It's a "Les isn't going to ruin another QB that isn't ready to play" statement.

I doubt that.

If Rivers really isn't viewed as a future starter, I have no problem with one redshirting and the other getting a backup spot if he emerges as the clear cut better of the two freshmen. At least that way, you can maybe keep both of them around claiming that they can both still have an opportunity to be our starting QB in the future.

It probably won't work out that way though.

Coaches are not always the best source of accurate info, but according to the coaches Rivers was just a step behind Mett laster year in practices. He even does a few things better than Mett.

kid has never even played and going into his 3rd year and he about to be beat out for the backup job by a freshman. It's not happening and to tell you the truth it wouldn't surprise me if he's the starter the next two years at LSU after mett.

Because Rivers isn't very good at all.

I think they both redshirt. One of them will make it to the number 3 slot of the depth chart by the end of the season though and it will be interesting to see which one.

You got a source? Because unless you watch practice, there's nothing Rivers has done to conclude that he's just not very good.

Matter of fact, going into the Spring, the coaches were saying he had fantastic NCG practices and he was moving along like he should be.

What's the knock on Rivers and why would freshmen QB's come in and be able to knock him down the depth chart when they don't even know the playbook etc etc?

I think this makes Rivers the first back up QB in LSU history that the fans have not wanted to play over the starter.
