IIRC, Steve Carrell didnt leave the Office to pursue a movie career, he did it because he felt it was time to move on. I also think he wanted to spend more time with the family

Carell doesn't belong in this thread. He's got a total of six movies either being released or filmed this year

Not only that, but creatively the Office has been in a lull for a while. He either got out on time or even too late.

Good take.
The shift in tone is palpable when they transitioned to the new cast and Alda is front and center and years later we would come to learn his activism and views.

It was jarring to have Tim Daly leave the animated Superman franchise between Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League. Not that it hurt his career, but he did leave the franchise to do a one and done season of the new Fugitive.

I dunno, I feel like the show still had legs. I feel like the last few episodes of season 2 definitely wrote them into a corner where it was the most logical exit, but Pitt's behavior on set is what encouraged them to move in that direction.
What I'm saying is has he not been such a terrible person to work with they would have written his character in a different direction. But that's just my opinion.
