This guy is trying way too hard to make case that Lebron is better than Michael. Today he said that marketing made Jordan popular and is re-running clip where he said that if Lebron has another 6 years like this than Jordan will be forgotten.

This from the guy who said jeter was better than Stan Musial.

Seeing how defensive Jordan gets in regards to LeBron, I'm rooting for him to state his case for GOAT over the next few years.

it was kind of a symbiotic relationship. MJ allowed superstar marketing and marketing made jordan MJ

i still believe that if jordan had to deal with the media that we have today, there wouldn't have been an MJ

quote:

that is stupid. NBA fans still remember guys from the 60s and 70s who weren't nearly as good as jordan

This is a non-issue because this argument could be made for every single super star in every sport.

There is a bit of truth to this. Not the only reason Jordan is so popular, but it is a big reason.

Herd's point was valid. MJ's marketing machine made him popular, which in turn, shielded him from criticism. MJ was an a-hole but he was teflon due to his popularity.

Lebron is not as "popular" so he gets criticized for even his small missteps.

Never in a million years will Lebron have the defensive talent and tenacity that Jordan had throughout most of his NBA career.

The MJ/Nike partnership basically invented superstar marketing.

yeah think about all the negative shite lebron has had to put up with in his career when he's never done anything that bad. off the court he's been an angel, essentially. his one faux pas was the decision, which wasn't THAT big of a deal looking back

jordan had a LOT of off court issues and the media shielded the public from knowing about them. imagine what today's media would have done to jordan. imagine TMZ on jordan's arse every day, noting all the shite he did in his personal life.

I'm not saying it wasn't influential, but "invented" superstar marketing? I'm not so sure about that.

MJ won 6 NBA finals and was the MVP all 6 times, that pretty much says all you need to know about him

LeBron will never do anything to compare to that
