Well I know everyone is focusing on our olb's with the draft coming up. What about inside?
I've heard speculation from most that Villma is undesized and will not be retained. I have also heard Martez will move inside but most speculate him moving outside.
Lofton of course has one of the starting spots. What about the other and depth? Has Hawthorne projected well in a 3-4? Does Casillas have a spot?

If it's so obvious why start the thread?

Barbe, I wouldn't have expected anything more from you my friend. Just hoping someone more informed and insightful on the subject might chime in.

Vilma didn't do so well when he was in the 3-4 with the Jets and he isn't worth the money we are paying him so he's most likely gone. Martez playing inside in college but he may be undersized for the pros but I think he'll be a monster at OLB generating a pass rush. Most of us suspect Hawthorne have the other starting spot inside, he came on strong when he was healthy. With Gillete having the other OLB unless we draft Jarvis Jones(fingers crossed he falls) or maybe Mingo. We don't have much depth but that'll come in the draft and in FA over time.

And if you ever want to find out more info just look at threads started by blues such as

Did you expect that from me? Douchebag

ETA: How can you expect anything from me when I couldn't even find not more than 3 posts on ST in your post history?

well the guys from profootball focus seem to think he'll be a outside backer so it must be true, right?

it still seems like he is a raw player. He hasn't gotten a lot of playing time. He was used mainly as a pass rusher last year. It just seems like he would have a hard time at stopping the run on the outside. I mean he wasn't put in the game unless it was a passing situation it seemed like so maybe the coaches weren't confident in run stopping abilities facing a TE or an OT.

I think his speed could be just as helpful as an inside backer but that is just my opinion. It just makes you wonder if he'll be a full time starter when he hasn't really played all of that much in first two seasons.

This!
My biggest concern about Martez in the 4-3 was his size.
If you re-watch the KC game, they ran right at him when he was in and ran RIGHT over him. Definite liability without a big DE deflecting some of the big guys upfront.

1. Wilson isnt moving to the inside i dont think. He is an outside pass rusher. Thats where he'll stay

2. Lofton and Hawthorne will probably start inside. I dont know what further explanation you want

3. We might pick up a FA or draft someone. We'll probably need some depth. Our LB's seem to get bit by the injury bug often.

4. You sure act like a punk bitch in this thread. Try no to cry so much. It's just the internet.

I see our LB corps as such:

ILBs: Lofton, Hawthorne, Vilma (if he wants to stay around enough as restructures)

OLBs: Galette, Wilson, hopefully our first round pick.

At this point I'm not sure where guys like Casillas, Chamberlain, Humbar (might be missing someone...) fit in. One area I'm pretty interested in are the backups for these spots. I'm expecting a couple low dollar FA guys to come in who are more suited if Payton doesn't think our current guys will translate.

My gut tells me we have seen the last of Casillas but who knows. Depth will be the major concern and I agree with you, probably will see a lot of low dollar FA's at that position as well as a few at OLB.

Coaches had to start the young first round pick and the veteran leader of the team. So it's not really fair to say what the coaches thought of him and Junior given the situation they were in. I think the fact that they are switching to a 3-4 to get Junior and Tez on the field says more of what the coaches think of them.

yeah maybe, it definitely is with Cam Jordan.

I'm sure Tez will probably end up playing on the outside but I just like the idea of his speed on the inside. Maybe they will move him around and he will play a little of both

I can see that. Maybe have him in the middle on first downs, then bring in Hawthorne and move Tez outside in passing situations.
