It was a great marketing gimmick. I have to imagine they sold a ton the last few days on people looking to stock up before the supposed change occurred.

They had to know what a PR flub this would be. I know it's stupid (I enjoy lots of bourbons from 80 to 147 proof and never factor that into my purchasing decisions) but to the average Maker's buyer it was akin to outsourcing production to China. I would be much more pissed off about the fact they shortened the aging time from 10 years to less than 6.

Here are a few Maker's alternatives:
Elijah Craig 12
WL Weller 12
Bulleit
Eagle Rare 10
Buffalo Trace

Basil Haydens is a nice alternative also, Slightly lighter than MM
