I'm a beer guy, but I'd like to take the wife on a little cocktail tour in NOLA next time we go. Tradition and history would be the priorities. What are the top 4-5 cocktails in NOLA, and where should we get them? Hurricane and hand grenade are out for obvious reasons. Here is my list so far, add and edit as needed. I want to take a purist's approach:

Sazerac - Roosevelt?
Ramos Fizz - ?
Vieux Carre - Carousel Bar
Pimm's Cup - Napoleon House
?

TIA

my favorite drink in New Orleans.

I also recommend a Crescent City Cooler or Golden Coconut from Miss Flo at Court of Two Sisters.

Sazerac at the Roosevelt may have been the worst drink I've ever had. I just wasn't prepared for how it was supposed to taste I guess, but I freaking hated it...

Def. do the Sazerac at the Roosevelt.

Throw history out the window and go to Cure. Best cocktail bar in N.O. Let the bartender make stuff as per your suggestions on what you like.

I appreciate the tips. I don't even like whiskey cognac, or bitters, but I love the Pimm's Cup. We've done that one before many times, but I figured we would throw that one in as a palate break since it's likely we probably won't even like the others.

I'm just looking for the historical angle, and to strike a few things off of my NOLA 'to do' list. My attention is always on eating and music.

French 75 bar - French 75 or whatever is on the menu

Anybody know if McMillan is still at bar uncommon? If he is, get a Ramos gin fizz

Get a Brandy milk punch for brunch.

Go to the Columns and Lafitte's Blacksmith.

Ramos gin fizz at Roosevelt as well.

Agree with Sazerac at Roosevelt and Pimms Cup at Napoleon House.

VERY familiar with that one. Cost us an entire Sunday one weekend during the summer after having a few too many of those on a Saturday...

Not a bar, but Herbsaint's Pimm's Cup >>>>> Napoleon House's Pimm's Cup.
