Do these guys have to be "sponsored" or a "member" of a recognized club/course?

Most have sponsors who advance them expense money. You don't have to be a member of a recognized club/course.

By the time anyone has gotten to the PGA in any fashion, even if it is for one tournament, they are sponsored in some fashion, whether it be by getting clubs, gear, etc. (though it is not a requirement) And no you don't have to be a member of any recognized club, but it'd be foolish to think anyone good enough to qualify is not a member somewhere. A friend of mine played in two this past spring. He went to the regional qualifiers, which are one to two day tournies, and won them to make it to the actual PGA tourney.

By sponsored I meant by the CC/Course not a manufacturer.

They have an affiliation with a club as a member or have playing privileges. Most of the time its somewhere on the bag or shirt in exchange for not paying dues.

As far as being a PGA member, absolutely not. A lot of PGA pros at this point are glorified shirt folders

Still no. Anyone can qualify. A lot of amateurs trying to make it spend their own money and travel expenses and often never make it. Prime example is most club pros.

TD should sponsor Beaver. He can walk 18 and post from inside the ropes.

That would be pretty cool.

Anyone on the tour is a PGA member as a Class A. Just a different classification number. I think they are A3. They just don't have to work or go through the books. Like honorary status.

This. And A3 is correct (exempt players).
