I went to Sprout's Market the other day and picked up what I thought was a 2 back of boneless chicken breasts. Turns out it was just one. 1.6 lbs by itself.

Pretty difficult to tell how big it is from the picture, but for reference that knife is huge and has a 10' blade.

I cut up half of it in cubes and it almost crowded the pan in a 10" All Clad Kerahi

Ridiculous

What sort of chicken steroids produces something that big?

The mom n pops eatery here serves gigantic fried breast halves like that. They are not the young fryers that most places have and farms grow to turnout. They are off of a "stewing" hen. Most of the older chickens like that are sold to canning plants.

Hmm I forget that the chicken you usually get is really young

So I guess this is just a chicken that is older and bigger?

Exactly. A lot of the "free range/organic" chickens are that way. They are not pumped full of steriods and hormones to go from hatchling to the processor in a few months.

Better choice IMO.

Sigh. Are men ever happy with boob size? Too big, too small...

I don't really care about breast size with women

As long as they aren't completely flat

As long as they are real, I have no complaints!

Fake boobs are the saccharin of nature.

and neither are the birds that the large companies sell. no chicken you buy from the store has steroids or hormones pumped into them. steroids would be a huge waste of money on a chicken because they wouldnt do anything at all

k. I don't know any chicken farmers. Or sell to feed mills. I have no idea what I am talking about.

wasnt trying to be mean. theres just so much misinformation out there about chickens these days. steroids and hormones and all kinds of stuff injected into them. all nonsense.

yes the organic stuff you buy is better but the other stuff isnt like eating some cyborg chicken

your regular chicken gets sent to slaughter at around 42 days. i think the minimum for organic is 80-82 days
