So, I am slowly getting into enjoying IPA's. I enjoy Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but haven't expanded my horizons. Now I turn to the F&DB brethren to guide me in my newfound exploration of IPA's. So, what you got? Thanks guys

I'd add:

Bear Republic Racer 5
NOLA Hopitoulas
Lazy Magnolia Timber Beast RIPA

Ruination is a very good beer, but it's a palate blaster for a newb...

Welp, there you go. I think Stone IPA is the gold standard for west coast style IPAs. If you want local/slightly less hoppy and local, get NOLA Hopitoulas

I'd say Heady Topper has the slight edge over several other top contenders. Although, I'd like to do more research.

Being in college, don't think I will make it to CA anytime soon. What part of Texas you from? I grew up in Lubbock and have family spread out in TX and make it over there a few times a year. Name some TX beers I should try that aren't available in LA...again, I am new to exploring my beers. I love Belgians, but want to expand my tastes. Thanks for the input

SN Ruthless Rye
Ipswich IPA (bomber)

These are two others you may like along with the others that have already been mentioned.

Full Sail iPA is the one got me into IPAs. It's not a hop bomb like some others and I although its brewed in Oregon, it uses English malts and hops. My favorites right now, that are available at my local store, is Bear Republic Racer 5, Brooklyn East India and Deep Ellum IPA.
